ok, i admit it, i'm a peeker. i was looking at my bed bath and beyond registry last night, and there were 2 items purchased for me that i didn't register for!! mind you, there are still TONS of items on my registry that i actually DID register for.
at first i thought it might be a price thing, but in looking over the registry, there are plenty of items in the price range of the unregistered items. i am puzzled.
can anyone even fathom what these people were thinking? am i missing something? has this happened to anyone?

yeah. what is with that. but i also got gifts that weren't on my registry for my engagement and they called the store took the item off and got something that was like it.

Yes YES I received gifts NOT from my registry but thank goodness only a handful!! And I got wishing well gifts that were added like someone mentioned above on my registry it said purchased 2 requested 0 I was like what the--- but thank goodness only 1 of the items that I received not from registry is ugly the others are nice!

I got a Tiffany silver BREAD knife..
whatever-- I probably should have returned it- but we used it.. Figure we can use it for the J-holidays with cutting the challah and stuff..
Also- I know for my shower- which is next week- a lot of people have wanted to get something for *me* and not a registry item.. although we are encouraging gifts off the registry.
Yeah, we got a $200 cake silver cake knife from Tiffany's that we didn't register for. I get that it's to cut our wedding cake with, but when the heck else am I going to use it? It's such an expensive knife i'm not even sure I'm going to bring it to the hall incase I forget to take it home!

Yes, BBB will add things to your registry if people buy something that is not on it because then you can return it for cash....(or what you like). I have had people buy us stuff from there since the model or one we wanted wasn't in stock (both times they upgraded to better stuff so we were fine with it).

I always think that a registry is a guideline...no one HAS to buy you what you pt on it. Some people set their minds on buying certain things and maybe its not what you ordered. Usualy they give gift receipts, if you dont like it return it, otherwise exchange it! Its not the end of the world lol

I believe that a registry has it's purpose and I will register. But I also feel like it is telling someone what to buy me, and that feeling makes me uncomfortable. If I am spending my money, I will buy what I want to buy as a gift.
I am also the hardest person to buy things for because I refuse to answer the question 'What do you want for...your birthday...christmas...?'
