I am getting married next September on a Thursday so I can afford the place I want. Everyone is giving me crap about it. Anyone else?

I am getting married on a Thursday night also and have found most people are using this as a great excuse to take off friday and make a long weekend!

People will complain no matter WHAT you do! Even if you had it on a Saturday night, you'd get people who work weekends complaining. Tell them to shove it, and do what you want!

i think this is one of them that you have to know your crowd - i work at a school so i wouldnt be able to take off a friday, especially the friday of a holiday weekend. if i had to travel, id probably have to decline. but if your group is local and more flexibility with time off / will still go to work the next day, then you have to do whats right for you.

don't stress it! the locals have no excuse!!! and the ones who have to travel would have had to travel anyways.. this way they can make it a long weekend!

if they can't make it, too bad... then they'll miss it! it's about YOU and as long as your fam and close friends are there, that's all that matters!

We are doing the same! The people that want to be there will be there and in the end you have to be most happy with your day and where it's taking place!

Anyone getting married on a Thursday?

We just booked on a Thursday but it's on Labor Day weekend. So I guess most will probably be excited to have a long weekend. A lot of venues were booked up surprisingly and said fat Thursdays seem to be more popular nowadays. I went to a Thursday wedding July 5th 2012 and it was the best wedding I ever been to. So really, it's up to you. I felt like thursday was inconvenient but once I entertained the idea, especially right before the labor day holiday, I got totally excited. Whomever can make it, will be there. I plan to give everyone 8 month notice. If that's not enough, then I don't know what to say! :)
