Anyone go later than 10 days overdue?

Anyone go later than 10 days overdue?

I have heard in my class that up to 14 days overdue is still normal, but my doctor is insisting on inducing me no later than 10 days late. (I am currently 4 days late with no signs at all - I am trying everything and even had an accident and fell down the stairs, and still nothing!). I have heard being induced is more painful and since it's not natural, it's better to wait until the baby's ready.
Also, any recommendations on how to bring on labor? I don't have the energy to make that eggplant, we've tried spicy and chinese food, walking all over town, having sex, etc....thanks!

I tried everything to get my son to be born before New Year's, but no, nothing worked. I even raked the yard! The night I went into labor, actually was a few hours after I put together my son's bookcase for his nursery. I don't know if that helped physically, it probably did, I think it was more because I've been stressed out about him coming early, that when I was putting together his bookcase, I was really relaxed and enjoying myself. Then all of a sudden the contractions started. Try doing something relaxing for the nursery, and then see what happens. If you are anything like I was before he came, running around, getting things ready, worrying, stressing... the relaxation could really help! Good luck!

BTW: Sex didn't help... just more uncomfortable!

There isnothing wrong with waiting until you are 14 days after your EDD as long as you are healthy. If you are not having any problems, you can refuse to be induced. I think I would wait a few more days to avoid the pitocin if possible. I am 1 day past due now and hope not to need to be induced.

I was born over 14 days late...if that helps.
Actually, I think all of my siblings and I were late....my brother was just about a month late.

My son was 10 days overdue, and probably could have gone longer but the Dr. wouldn't let me.

It s actually not safe to go past 42 weeks... they find that they baby has their first bowel movement and can actually swallow it...Getting induced it not terrible.. is it just your contractions cmoe on strong and fast... I actually got my epidural at 2 cm because it helps you relax.. and 6 hours laster Jillian was born.. IMO my iv hurt more than the epidural.( and i got mine done twice).. Good luck
