Anyone go to Hawaii? Where should we stay?

Anyone go to Hawaii? Where should we stay?

We are not sure, there are sooo many choices and we need to start booking our honeymoon!
From the basic research I've done, I think we want to go to Maui and Kauai, and possibly Molokai? We want it to be a beautiful place, but also still have a true Hawaiin feel -- not overly commercial -- if that makes sense. Can anyone tell me where they stayed, and what they thought of it?
Also any 'must-see' or 'must do' things?
Thanks!

We went to Oahu, Maui and Kauai and stayed at the Hyatts on all three. Oahu's Hyatt was nice, Maui's was beautiful, but Kauai's.... the most amazing hotel I have ever seen and stayed at, and probably will ever stay at. I recommend the Hyatts all the way, esp Kauai.

Def do the bike ride down Haleakala (?) on Maui. We also snorkled along the NaPali coast on Kauai... beautiful. Walk along Front Street in Maui (Lots of shops and restaurants). Drive around, explore. To be honest, didnt really enjoy the Road to Hana... got car sick and there was barely any water in the waterfalls. Felt like I wasted an entire day.

I wish I could go back...

We did this too. Both were great but as bride2b24 said, the Kaui location was AMAZING.

We went to Kauai for the first week after the wedding which was perfect because it was soooo relaxing which is what we needed. While there, we stayed at the Castle Kihuana Resort Plantation. Private condos for very resonable. And you don't get that hussle bussle feel of a hotel (which is exactly what we were looking for). The beach is on the property. You have your own huge condo........kitchen, dining room, living room, huge bedroom, bathroom, private patio. Here's the link to their website.
Kauai Resort

The second week was much more active. We flew to Honolulu and got on Norwegian's Pride of America for a 7 day cruise to Maui, Hilo, Kona, and Kauai (yes - back to Kauai for 1 1/2 days - but it was so worth it). We got to go to Pearl Harbor before getting back on the plane to NY. Treked thru lava tunnels in Hilo, relaxed on the beach in Maui one day and saw the most amazing show in Maui the other night. It was awesome! I highly recommend it. We got to see so much of Hawaii and only had to unpack once on the cruise. Good Luck!!

We stayed at the Fairmont Kae Lani in Maui which I highly recommend. We ate dinner at the Four Seasons and the Grand Wailea which were all right next to each other, and those were very nice as well.

In Kauai we stayed at the Princeville. The hotel was nice but not spectacular rooms. I would not really recommend it. It is far from the main resort area as well.

In Oahu we stayed at the Halekulani which was amazing. The service was the best I have ever had, and I have stayed at some nice hotels.

We did the biking in Maui which was fun, and the Old Lahaina luau. I also did not enjoy the road to Hana, and we turned around after about an hour. In Kauai we went on a hiking and kayaking tour which I would recommend. If you are not looking for a commercial area I would not go to Honolulu - it is a big city.

Hawaii is amazing and you will have fun no matter where you stay and what you do!

In Maui we stayed in the Hyatt...its a very nice hotel but when we compared it to the Hyatt in Kauai it just didnt compare!!!

We ended up getting a condo in Kauai...we went that way only bc we got a deal that we just couldnt pass up. The place was new and our room was huge and all around amazing..pics in album!

We went to Oahu & Maui and stayed at the Sheraton on both islands. Oahu was commercial; we wanted to see Pearl Harbor, that's the only reason why we went there. Maui was beautiful. We had a romantic dinner at Big Mamma's Fish House and loved the Old Lahaina Luau. I didn't really enjoy the Road to Hana. We found a cute breakfast place in Kehei that had amazing macadama nut pancakes - YUM!

Re: Anyone go to Hawaii? Where should we stay?

My hubby and I went to Maui & Kauai and stayed at the Hyatt on both Islands. The Maui Hyatt was nice, but the Kauai Hyatt was incredible! We were treated so well at both places and came back with no complaints.

One suggestion I'd like to impart is to not over do it. We wanted to do and see as much as possible and ended up exhausted when we returned and literally needed a vacation from our vacation. With that said, it was an amazing trip - we talk about going back everyday!!

On Maui:
Road to Hana is a must - plan for a whole day. You can order a picnic lunch from the Hyatt complete with your own cooler.

We also went to Mt. Haleakela for the sunrise, which was also an amazing experience, but you have to get up at 3 a.m. to make it there.

Went Snorkeling on Boss Frog's to Molokini - awesome snorkeling day, great captain & mates, good drinks too

Downtown Lahaina is an great place to hang and shop. Make sure you become friends with ABC stores to save some $$

On Kauai, less commercialized tha Maui:

Take a trek to Queen's Bath - very cool experience that not too many people know about but I do mean 'trek'

Waimea Canyon - Hawaii's Grand Canyon

Jo Jo's Shaved Ice is the BOMB

Hope this helps!! You and your FH are in for a real treat!! Good luck

Went to Oahu but that is more Commercial.
The place was lovely though it was the most secluded at of all of the places in Oahu.
The Kahala Resort.
Good luck in your decision.

Re: Anyone go to Hawaii? Where should we stay?

we went to maui and kauai

In Maui, we stayed at the Royal Lahaina, which I loved.

Here is what I loved:

Mt. Haleakala: it is freezing, like NY winter- bundle up and get there early. The view is to die for. You are above the clouds. It was incredible

Front Street: really cool shops and Cheeseburger in Paradise-yummy!!!!

Mama's Fish House-Pricey, but yummy

Whaler's Village-kinda like NY, but the view is pretty. They have a lot of the commercial shops.

I hated the Road to Hana-too many bends and curves, too narrow, and once you have seen one waterfall, you saw them all. I have a back issue and this didn't help. It took a whole dayl

In Kauai, we stayed at the Marriot Beach Club Resort in Lihue

Kauai was my personal favorite. Very tropical

We did the sunset cruise of the Na'pali Coast which was awesome-it was whale season and we saw whales which was great!
We also did a luau there-Smith's Family Luau A++++
I liked Hanalei, which had a beachy feel and I loved Poipu-very nice shops (can you tell I love shopping)
