Anyone got any Tylenol?

I think I made such a mistake... My bridesmaids are coming in tomorrow and we are all going shopping for the dress! Well, I made the mistake of soliciting opinions and now, my bridesmaids are at odds about the dress. Two love this dress I had considered and two don't love it. They will 'wear it if they have to to make me happy.' I dn't want my bms to be unhappy at the wedding, but how annoying!!! One is like- 'I need sleeves, Can't wear anything without sleeves' and another is like 'I hate Matte Satin. Taffeta only'! Meanwhile, I am a bridesmaid in my friends wedding and she just called me up and said 'this is the dress I picked out for all you guys.... Get it in your size'. What is everyone else doing?

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

I let my girls pick the cut but I picked the fabric. My MOH got one cut and the other two picked the same top and all three picked the same skirt.

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

I'll tell you what my MOH tells me when one of my girls complain about the gown I like: it is your wedding, you've given your friends the honor of being in your bp, no one looks at them anyway, you are the one who is supposed to be happy, they're lucky you even consider their feelings at all.' I swear, this is exactly what she said to me (I love her so!) Half the party likes it, the other half of them will live!!

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

She's my best friend - has been since highschool and I was her MOH. I practically did handstands for her when it was her turn so she's definitely been giving back 100%!!

But she'll be happy to hear that she's appreciated beyond just me!

Edited to say: she's been MOH in 90% of the weddings she's been in...you can see why!

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

Dont stressout. I suggested a certain dress and when th egirls tried it on, it looked horrible. So I sat back and let them pick a dress, the only other request I made was that the dress had to have some form of sleeve. One of the BM's is pleasantly plump and didnt feel comfortable.

So just go with the flow, your the bride and do as your heart plese without making your self nuts.

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

They should definetly wear what you have selected. If you need help and you have a lot of bridesmaids-maybe only take along the MOH or a couple that you trust. DO NOT involve all of them in the decisioning making process because there is no way to please everyone and EVERYONE had their own idea of what they want and what looks good--NEWSFLASH_when it is their wedding THEY get to pick -but for now it's YOUR turn and they should be willing to be happy for you no matter what. I wasn't all too thrilled with a recent bridesmaid dress but I never would have said anything to my friend--she was absolutely in LOVE with the dresses and it was HER wedding---

Have fun and pick the dress you want! AND of course it is nice to consider everyone's feelings but in no way are you obligated to try and please every girl....

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

I really don't think you made a huge mistake at all. YOur BM should take into consideration that you gave them an option at all. I would let them know that...

Also let them know in a nice way of course that this is your day and whatever dress that is picked it will make YOU happy. That is all that should matter to them.

I have been in a few BP where I did not like the dress, and you know what... I lived withed it and so should they...

just to let you know, for my dresses, I was going in with a different color than what I am ending up with ( my bm helped me with that) but the dresses-- was all me...

Good luck!!!!

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

I have been in a BP where I didnt like the way the dress looked on me, looking back it was fine, I looked great that day. Point is though, I hated it and I dealt with it. B/C she was my friend, and it was an honor to be in her BP. That is how your friends should feel also. if they say, yeah, we'll wear it to make you happy, take it and run with it LOL, don't look back
Do what makes YOU happy, it's YOUR wedding.

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

I took my SIL ro look for dresses. she must have tried on about 100 and we picked out a style that looked good and her and then we went back with my other friend and she tried on the two and then they each tried on one and I picked the on e that i liked. I also could not decide on a color so I ended up calling my mom and telling her the two colors...

I was in my friend wedding and she just told us that we had to go wiuth her to the dress maker to get the dress made...It was a lot sheaper but in the end my dress(since the other girls were a size 2 & 4) did not look like the other ones.. and I wore it because she was my friend and she wanted me to be a part of her wedding.

You just have to make the final decision. If you one friend does want sleeces then get her a shawl to wear after the ceremony...
Do not worry about it. No one will be focusing on them anyway they will just be looking at you!

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

I let each girl choose their own dresses in the same color & fabric. I want them to love the dress & for each to feel most comfortable in what they choose.
They have to wear it all day, not me.

I am sorry they are putting you through this. I just don't understand how some people can be so selfish.....
I hope it works out, and you don't need too much Tylenol

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

I dont think you made a mistake. Not everyone will love the dress you like, but if they're a bm, they should wear it (unless you, the bride, think the dress will not look good on them).

I tried to be nice and picked a color and store and let girls pick the style. I still had one girl, who a)wanted to rent a davids' bridal dress b)didn't like the color (I chose apple red, and she wanted something pastel). Eventually, she bought the dress that she liked stylewise.

You can't make everyone happy. At some point you need to realize that if they're your friends' they'll take the honor of being a bridemaid, the way you envision your bridemaid's looking.

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

I don't think you made a mistake either. While some brides allow their BM's to choose what they want to wear, others do not.

I did not. I chose a dress with my MOH and that's the dress it is going to be! We are going tomorrow to get them measured and the deposits down.

If the one BM does not like sleeveless, that's her problem. But I suggest trying to find a dress that EVERYONE will look good in.

This is it, but in Wine. I chose it simple as to not encounter any problems.

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

I took my MOH shopping with me - and when she looked beautiful in it, we decided together that was the one. I have 3 blondes, a brunette and a redhead in my wedding party, so we had to get a color that was good for all of them (sage) and believe it or not, all 5 of them are size 8, except they range in height from 5'2 to 5'11. Yes, the 5'11 one (FSIL) is built like a freakin supermodel.
Marissa, do whatever you want with your dresses - like eroxgirl said. it's YOUR wedding and no one will be looking at them anyway!

Re: Anyone got any Tylenol?

i have 3 BM's and 2 MOH's and I picked out a dress and I emailed it to all of them and said hey here is a dress I thought was really pretty, and this is the exact color let me know what your opinions are. If you see a dress that you like please email all of us and lets all try and come to an agreement on a dress. I want all of you to be happy.

I was soooooooooooooooooooooooo lucky, they all love the dress I picked out. One BM was emailing me pictures of jewelry that would go nice with the dress, another was emailing me wedding gowns, my MOH is helping me choose a color that her and the other MOH will wear. The BM's are in plum so the MOH is going to be in silver or gray (have to see how it looks)

My BM's have all been so wonderful.
