... and do you? I may have to return a set we bought last night because there is no way I can justify DRY CLEANING a king sized comforter!

Cleary your hubby doesn't let Bailey in the bed once a week ... not that I don't cave & let them all up the day we are changing sheets ...

Wendy what is it made of. What you can do is test an area (a corner) with water and see if it ruins it otherwise I honestly would return it.

Re: Anyone have a comforter that says DRY CLEAN ONLY
It's mostly poly & cotton but there's some rayon ... (it's kinda fancy patchwork) but not for nothing, I wash my rayon clothing that says dry clean only with no problems ...
I guess I was just wondering if anyone else completely disregards the care instructions!

Re: Anyone have a comforter that says DRY CLEAN ONLY
It probably says that because of the rayon. Rayon believe it or not is a wood product. A lot of times you can safely wash rayon products but SOMETIMES, since rayon does not have it's own natural shape, the manufacturers will use a spray sizing. Sometimes this spray sizing is water disolvable and can change the way that the clothing lays. I think most manufacturers have corrected this since they first started using rayon in the late 80's early 90's but it is always a risk. If you truly love the comforter test an area and make sure that nothing will run and you should be ok.

Re: Anyone have a comforter that says DRY CLEAN ONLY
I have 2 Dry Clean only comforters. Both I have put in the washing machine and dryer and they came out fine. A few months ago I did take both to the Dry Cleaners. I think it cost around $20.00 each to get cleaned.

This is the set - I never buy sets and never anything so *formal* but both Tim & I liked it and we are in desperate search of SUPERSIZE comforters so we do not KILL eachother

Jamie - I realize you are trying to tell me washing this thing is a disaster waiting to happen but I'm pretending I haven't figured that out yet ...

Re: Anyone have a comforter that says DRY CLEAN ONLY
My company makes, sells, tests comforter sets and if it says Dry Clean only it probably means when it was tested for washing, it either displaced the fiber fill inside (maybe shifting it all to one corner or making it thinner) or ruined the fabric on the outside by shrinking it.
Normally, the only fabric we allow to be Washed is 100% cotton. You'd have a hard time these days finding a comforter set that is not dry clean only - I would say 90% of the items I deal with end up being dry clean only after testing.
Hope this helps!
