I am looking for a female ob/gyn who knows what she is doing who is based on long island. ( I say that because I have been to many on long island who are clueless!!) I have an excellent doctor in manhattan who is a specialist for another gyn problem that I have had and I would love to use her but she is in manhattan and dh and I are afraid to have to drive from long island into manhattan if/when I get pregnant. The only problem is I need someone well versed in gyn medicine and who can deliver babies etc... Any recommendations?? Thanks!

Re: Anyone have a female OB/Gyn Recommendation?
I just changed from my feamale OBGYN to a MALE! I couldn't believe I'd ever feel comfortable with a man Dr. but I'm so glad I did! My feamale OBGYN had no time for me and treated me and my friend who used her also like just another number. I'd give you her number but I can't say that I'd recommend her!

Re: Anyone have a female OB/Gyn Recommendation?
I have heard that Gloria Escamilla in Smithtown is good - a friend uses her and she has had very difficult pregnancies, but is very happy with Dr Escamilla. I have been to another Dr. in their practice, Michelle Murphy, who I liked a lot. They are both in a practice at St Catherine's hospital.

Re: Anyone have a female OB/Gyn Recommendation?
is it a female-only practice? I am looking for one of those. Davenport's office has another female and 2 males so I could never use them when I get pregnant.

I have heard that Stonybrook midwifery is amazing! It is ALL female, again they are midwifes, not medical doctors BUT they might be able to point you in the right direction.
