Anyone have a female OB/Gyn Recommendation?

Original post by abc7077

I am looking for a female ob/gyn who knows what she is doing who is based on long island. ( I say that because I have been to many on long island who are clueless!!) I have an excellent doctor in manhattan who is a specialist for another gyn problem that I have had and I would love to use her but she is in manhattan and dh and I are afraid to have to drive from long island into manhattan if/when I get pregnant. The only problem is I need someone well versed in gyn medicine and who can deliver babies etc... Any recommendations?? Thanks!

The problem I am having is that all of the offices also have male doctors and they say that whoever is on call will deliver the baby. I only want a female doctor. I just get cannot do the male ob/gyn thing (IMO). Anyone who has an all-female office I would love to know about it.

My doctor is awesome, and I totally adore her. She will be the one to deliver my children!

Her name is Dr. Sheryl Tomack, and she practices out of 2 offices - One in Merrick, and the other in Cedarhurst at LI Women's Health Care.

Lnp, is that the Sheryl Tomack who works with Dr. Hazelkorn's office. If it is, I never saw her but that office also has many doctors, most are male. I used to see Dr. Hazelkorn who is a female and had a really bad experience with her and her office and the other male docs after I had complications after a biopsy. She may be really nice and if she is not associated with her office I would consider her. But, if she is associated with that office, no thank you, been there done that!!!! Thanks for the suggestion though!!!

OH.... sorry... they are one in the same... But when I go, I only see Dr. Tomack or Janet Miller (she's the on staff nurse who sometimes does my PAP's.

Sorry about the bad experience there! Most of my friends use the same office as well........

Ugh... food for thought!

Lpn, I thought that was the office ugghh!!! Will you be able to only have Dr. Tomack for delivery or will they make you see everyone else? If they let you see only her I would go but NOT for ANYONE else there!!!

Mickey, I didn't know that Milner left! I had never seen her before until I was pregnant and went for my first pre-natal visit and then again the following week for another sonogram. She seemed nice and I had no problem with her, but I prefer Dr. Ostroff. She's such a doll. As for the wait, I find that any time I ever made an appt. with a GYN (and also for my dermatologist), I always had to wait at least a month or more! I don't know why because not for nothing, going to the GYN is not something I look forward to and want to do!!!

Do you know what the name of the new dr is?

Nope.... I'm happy to say that I spoke with her & she told me that it would definitely be her!
