Anyone have a FH that isn't excited about wedding plans?
Original post by Karen62794
Hi ladies...
Even before we got engaged (we were together for 6 years prior) I knew my FH wouldn't be as eager and as excited as me to plan our wedding. After we got engaged (April '01), I was so excited I wanted to book everything within the next month even though we were planning on having a 2 year engagement.
We waited a month before we started looking at reception sites and meeting with our priest. I took my mom and his mom to about 6 or 7 places before narrowing my choice down to 2. I took my FH to the final 2 and we made our decision together in June '01. We booked our church and reception within the same week and my FH did not want to be bothered for the next few months!
Well, I took my mom to some bridal shows since she is just as excited as me. We then started looking at photographers (without my FH) and after seeing 3, I found one that I loved. I asked my FH if he wanted to meet the photographer and he said no. So, I booked it and that was that.
Since I was content with having my church, reception site and photographer all squared away by Thanksgiving, I didn't bother my FH with any more wedding details. I went on my happy way, being home checking the net and reading my bridal magazines while chatting with my girlfriends about the big day.
My mom and his mom have been great, so I'm so thrilled about everything. My FH feels that this is more 'my day' than his and that if I like something I should just go with it.
Anyone else having similar feelings???

It is ok, and I know it was not your intention. I am sorry too. Sometimes it is hard to take what someone means with E-mail. But I apologized to everyone so I hope this is the end of it. Great luck planning and thanks for the emails.

Learning from the posts...
What I see is that different people are getting help in different ways, and that is great. I don't have a really involved bridal party as my MOH is in S. Jersey and my BM is in CT. My mother passed away, so my FH has really stepped up and has helped me 100% (I am not bragging ;-) ). I think when people see you need help, whether it is due to an indifferent FH or lack of people to help, as in my case, we should all be thankful for the help we do receive. I know I was overwhelmed when the planning started! I am so thankful he's involved, right down to offering to help me dress shop. He knows I am dreading not having my mother to help me. I don't know if I want him to go though. Maybe too much help is a bad thing??!!

Diane is he helping you shop for your dress?
I have a good friend who was so excited when she got her dress that she showed her now husband. They were very non-traditional. Spent the night before the wedding together, etc. I was just wondering if he is helping you dress shop for BM dresses or your dress. Crazy as it sounds, I don`t know if I will be able to get a dress and NOT show or describe it in detail to my FH! We are so corny like that. I knew the day he was going to propose a month in advance because he was so excited that he dropped too many hints. Not that I`m bragging...
