Funny I was coming to answer and I see its the exact same area we have in common.
Someone suggested to me to put a sitting area but somehow I feel we would never sit there I don't know what to put there

I have a formal dining room already.. right across from this space which was the formal dining room.. I was thinking of a cute sitting area with a nice chair and oddoman and a cute rug with a tv perhaps? dunno.. I'm stumped.. I have an office, guestroom, bedroom, HUGE family room, and a kitchen, and bath.. what else could I possibly use it for?

Marcella..I have the same problem. It is a sitting room for now, but hubby says in the mean time it can be a play area for when the kids come, and then eventually down the road we will knock down the wall and expand the kitchen and make it HUGE

you see.. we're thinking of builiding out hte bathroom a bit to make it bigger but the kitchen is already is already big!!!

I have a fuseball table in that room as of now...one of hubby's toys. It has turned into a coat rack

How big is it? Is it completely open to the kitchen?Im thinking a sitting area with maybe a desk/message area. It also sounds like a good space for a play area down the line. I dont think a kitchen can ever be too big. With our family thats were everyone wants to be.

we have a sunroom that we're not using yet. i plan on putting a huge chair & ottoman in there. a rug, curtains, a cute armoire with a tv. it will be my little sitting room! perfect to read in!

Marcella maybe you'll need some extra bedrooms in the years to come!
ETA: As far as what to use it for now...I think the sitting area type room is a good idea, TV, ottoman, etc..

butlers pantry? LMAO! yeah right! lol
I'm not sure of the *exact* kitchen measurements, but it's not an actual *room* the kitchen has a peninsula that swings off and then right next to it, this open space.. next to the space is a wall which is the bathroom.. I have 3 bedrooms on the first floor now.. beign that it's just us, we're convertin gone into a huge family room, half of which will be a sunken down and the other one, an office for now (anna ) hehe..
I like the breakfast nook idea too! but do you think it would be too much esp. considering I plan on getting a center island with stools?

What about if you put a large secretary there?
I definitely like the butler's pantry idea! They're definitely handy if you like to entertain.

The only thing I don't like about that idea is the pressure of always having to cook! I don't mind entertaining, but I'm more of a go get it yourself, this house is your house type of gal.. Todd happens to like the idea.. figures.. lol
