anyone have a small reception at the Swan Club?

We went to the showcase in January at the swan club.We looked at the garden room, which we really liked. they offered to lower the minimum on it to 100 people for the date we wanted, unforunately we dont have 100 people. I know they host smaller weddings, has anyone had say 50 people there? What are the differences between the rooms. What were your minimums? Does anyone know the name of the smaller room?

Hi there! I went to the Swan Club yesterday and they're a top contender on our list! We're having a 100-120 person wedding, and they offered us either the Garden Room or the Contessa room. We would be taking the Contessa room if we booked because the CH and ceremony would be in the same place (the Pavilion) if we took the Garden room. The Contessa room would fit 50 people quite nicely, although I'm not sure how low they would go with the minimum.

FH just called there and they said the after deck room would be what we would get. I need to go look at it though. I dont want a tiny room even if its only for 50 people.
I have to see what the minimum would be on the contessa

he's feeling down about us having a small wedding. We dont have a lot of people to invite nor do we have the money for a large wedding. He feels that our wedding isnt going to be as nice as my brothers wedding because he had a large wedding.

well it's understandable but hopefully he realizes that no matter how many people are there it's still your day and it's going to be the most special day of your lives!

The afterdeck room was very small. We looked there and although we loved the Swan Club we felt the Afterdeck room even with only 50 people would be tight, especially with a DJ and dancing. I'm having 50-60 guests at my wedding at Leonard's of Great Neck (photos in my album).

Check out

Larkfield Manor - Garden Room
Westbury Manor - Hill Room
Leonard's - Empire Room
Milleridge Inn - Carriage House
Metropolitan - The Club

If I think of more I'll post them....

I think the Old Field Club is out of our range. We need something under $100 pp

Totally agree. Its your special day no matter how many people are there all that matters is the ones who mean something to you and they share it with you!

I'm so sorry he's upset about having a small wedding. My sister's wedding was the most beautiful wedding I've ever been to, and she only had 36 people -- immediate family only at a restaurant on the water in Rockaway. Your wedding will be beautiful. The thatched cottage is under 100 for a Sunday and Friday, I don't know about Saturday, but I'm pretty sure the minimum has to be larger than what you are looking for.

We called the watermill and they really didnt seem interested in us. I explained that we were looking for a venue for between 50-75 people and they guy on the phone said he didnt have time to talk to me and I should call back another time. Perhaps I took it the wrong way, but I always feel its good business if you cant help someone at the moment, take there name and number and call them back when you can speak. I want to look at the thatched cottage.

I just booked my wedding for April 2009 at the Swan Club. My minimum was 70 people for the Contessa room with the Afterdeck as my CH. You should ask them if they may be willing to do that. I wanted a small wedding but FH keeps adding more people to our list. Oh well. Glad he is excited.

I am so sorry that you had that experience maybe it was not a good day, since the 1st day the peopel there had been great. If you want to give them a second chance and ask for Sean he is great!!!!
