How much do you give the super for fixing something in your apartment? We have a leaky tub faucet and I never know how much to pay him. Help please!

I don't give him anything--it's his job. The management company pays him.
Some people tip at holidays, but I've never seen my super regularly enough to warrant that.

I had the super fix our toliet once. It was constantly in flush mode. He spent 3 min. toying with a screw. I gave him $20 and now I know how to fix it myself.

Usually $10 or $15 for something that's off-hours or annoying. But other than that, nothing. Tourist is right, that's what they're paid for. I do give holiday $ though - $50 to the super, $25 to the porter.

I thought if it was like a personal problem (well that doesn't sound right) you had to pay, if it was the building fault you don't pay. Ah, I'll give him $20 and hope that's okay.
