My DT running light has blown and I can not figure out for the life of me how to get the bulb out. I dont know if the entire casing has to come out or not. There is NOTHING in the manual. I dont want to take it to VW and be charged $100 to change a d*mn lightbulb. HELP!
I'm having the same issue with my Jetta...I'm just not driving at night...and should be trading the car in soon :)
If I figure it out...I'll let you know

sorry, that hasn't happened to my passat... but my parents had to replace a part on there pontiak.. they tried to do it themself and couldnt, but the dealer where they bought it from told them how they could do it...so they didnt have to pay anything

I have a Jetta. I'll see if I can figure it out and get back to you. All the VW's have problems with lights - mostly tail lights. You should call - this may be covered under warranty.

I agree. Call and see if it is a newly extended warranty item, like the power windows. Oh yeah, I have a 2001 Jetta
courtesy of DH: you have to open the hood and then replace it from there...the reason...so people don't steal your lightbulbs...

Here's a little secret. I don't know if they still do it but last time I bought a light bulb for the car from Walmart they said for a buck we'll put it in. A buck! I said, You got it. Mind you this was a 20 minute project. Not an easy replacement.

Definitely do it from opening the Hood!! Same thing happened with my cousins jetta....Good Luck! Or buy the bulb at pep boys and they will put it in...do not know hat they charge tho...
