anyone have an extra 'afterhour'?

anyone have an extra 'afterhour'?

Our hall offers an extra hour you can add on for $6.50 pp.... but in their lounge area... I wouldn't want to pay the DJ for an extra hour but they do have a stereo so at least we'd have some music... we can't decide if it's worth it or not..

one part of me is already dreading how fast the day is going to go so I'm going to want to drag it out as long as I can, lol

but I think my dad is paying enough $$ (I'm blessed that he's paying for the reception) so I feel guilty- he did say it was fine if we wanted to do it though.

also we have shuttles from the hotels and they need a pickup time so I havea feeling that a lot of the older guests arn't going to want to stick around an extra hour and we would be like forcing them to, ya know?

although we do have a lot of young ppl coming so I'm sure they'd love it.

Bleh..... the day is so short but I have a weird feeling it will die out without the DJ and people will just be ready to go home..... did anyone do this or anyone have some input???

We're absolutely doing the extra hour, making our reception time from 7-1.

I worked for DJ companies for many years, and know how parties basically run-I always think there's too much dance/sit down for dinner courses alternating. We have such a dancing crowd, we want the night to go on as long as possible. That last hour from 12-1 we can all go buck wild on the dance floor.

So I think it's totally worth it.

HTH!

we didnt add on anytime since our wedding already ended at 1:30...we had PLENTY of dancing time...we didnt do a lot of the traditional 'wedding' stuff so there really wasn't too much sitting down time and there were very few slow dance songs...for me, i couldnt have aksed my parents to pay more money...jmo

We had a TWO hour after party!!! We are a bunch of party people haha. Our wedding was from 7pm-1am then after party from 1am-3am! Do it if you want to! We had entertainment though, we did the Rock Band thing.

We did an extra 1 hr and a half.......but it ended up being like 2 hrs. That was the time that my DH and I actually got to hang out with people and have real conversations and dance and drink. It was totally worth it! I say go for it!

wow was the 7-1 am for the reception?? or including CH?

Our CH is 6:30-800 and then dinner/dancing is 8-12....

I guess I'm just kinda debating over the shuttles... I know some people will want to leave but I need to give them a time to begin people picking up and if I start it earlier the extra hour will kinda be a waste I think...

7pm-1am was ceremony, ch, reception. Then the after party was 1am-3am. (invitation 7pm, bellini upon arrival. Ceremony 7:30pm, CH 8pm-9pm, dinner/dancing 9pm-1am).

10'er crashing.

What I'm doing to pro-long my wedding day: We rented out a confrence room at the hotel we blocked rooms out. We're having a cash bar and bringing in food and possibly some music (nothing more than an ipod w/ speakers).

I'm also getting marred in the afternoon, but its just an idea. I want to keep my wedding going as long as possible too!

To be honest...I considered this and we sort of had an afterparty at the bar in the hotel (just some hang out time)...but by then end of your wedding you are going to be absolutely exhausted!! Your guests will too. I DID NOT want to go to the bar after our wedding at the hotel as originally planned bc I was SOOOO tired and I just wanted time with my hubby. We did go for a little b/c some of our guests were there but I was literally out of energy. I know we all want to prolong it....but eventually it does come to an end

The funny thing is everyone tried to tell me...you are going to be so tired your not even going to want to continue...and I kept saying 'yeah right' but they were SO right!!

We are planning on it but our reception is over a 1:30am so I don't know if my old a$$ could handle another hour of partying!!!!!!!!!!

we kept the hotel bar open after we got back. it was good, we went for like 2 hrs, and a lot of other people hung out too.

We did an hour and a half CH... so from 7:30 to 9 is CH (because our wedding is a friday.. i figure this gives people more time to come and still be able to enjoy some if not all of the CH). Then from 9 to 1 is the reception. Then after that we go to the hotel and party more. my friends will MOST DEFINATELY be up and wanting to party more. I KNOW how they roll!! haha!!! They are big big drinkers!! haha!!

We had one and everyone said it was the best part... It was in the middle of July so we had a reggae band and cigar roller... I think it's really good idea...
