Re: Anyone have Bose surround sound home theater?
Yes, we do. Some of DH's friends chipped in to get it for us as a wedding gift, so I don't know how much it cost. I'm not a big stereo person, but DH loves it!

Re: Anyone have Bose surround sound home theater?
Probably not what you're looking for but we have the Bose 3-2-1 system, which is supposed to be like a whole room surround with only two speakers.Well, it's not. I mean, the sound from it is very good, but it's not very 'surround' unless you make it VERY (window rattling) loud. It sounds nothing like the demo units in the stores, and I've tried everything to get it to work better. (changing speaker position, adjusting treble, bass etc...) I don't know, I guess I was just expecting more from Bose. It was $1,000 (two christmases ago), and it is nowhere near as good as my father's cheap old surround sound system that he got at like Kmart.
ETA: not saying that Bose in general isn't good, I just would not recommend the 3-2-1 system.

Re: Anyone have Bose surround sound home theater?
Really? hmm.. good to know.. we have the bose in wall speakers that DH is going to put into the ceilings.. so I figured getting the 3.2.1 and connecting it to that would amplify it.. hmm..

Re: Anyone have Bose surround sound home theater?
That would probably work, I think the fact that there are only two speakers is what's the problem with the 3-2-1. I mean, our living room isn't even that big, and I feel like the sound just isn't all that great. I think it would be even worse in a big room. Maybe we have a bad unit? Maybe since we got it when it first came out it has since improved? Who knows? I did call bose to ask some questions, and they said for optimal performance, you should have the system turned up to 75. For regular television we usually leave it at about 40-45, so 70 is LOUD.

that IS loud.. LOL
we plan on putting in wall speakers all throughout the house, and I think that what also sells me is that it is so compact.

Re: Anyone have Bose surround sound home theater?
We priced one and unfortunately can't remember which one but it was $2500.I love my husband but I can't warrant spending it when the house needs so many other things.
Marcella - if you do get it for Todd he is going to love you more than he does now (if that is possible!!!!)

LOL you guys are cracking me up over here.. Todd love his sports and he swears by Bose, although this is our first experience with it (his family all has the same speaker system throughout their homes) Do you guys think it's worth it for me to drive out to the Bose outlet? or should I just go to any bose place? or like best buy?

Re: Anyone have Bose surround sound home theater?
Its not cheaper at the Outlet but they do run specials and offer special financing. Might be worth a trip.I think they even have a little booth at the Walt Whitman mall.

Re: Anyone have Bose surround sound home theater?
If you go to the oulet, or even Ciruit City, you can get up to a year of finance free.Hubby did a lot of research, and most came out that Bose is a little overrated.
He was stuck between Onkyo, Polk, or Bose.
He would up spending a little more for the Polk, but got 10% off, because PC Richards had it, so Circuit City matched it, plus 10%.
I would try Ciruit City or the Bose outlet stores.

Re: Anyone have Bose surround sound home theater?
We are in the processing of pricing out the same thing. Lou is doing all the research and we have heard the same about Bose not being the best out there (who knows?). I heard Bose is great if you listen to it really loud but other than that there are better out there. Lou has a relative that is really into it all and he has been sending him some suggestions of what to buy and the prices are cheaper than Bose. He takes the measurements of our room and stuff like that inot consideration (our family room is a decent sized - and very rectangular). I think in the end the systems that he is suggesting will cost in the $1,500 mark with speakers and receiver. If you are open to go with something other than Bose - FM me and I can ask Lou to send me the info he has so far.

Re: Anyone have Bose surround sound home theater?
The draw to Bose is the size of the speakers. They offer fantastic sound for their size. If you don't mind obvious/larger speakers, than I would recommend going with a different brand, but if you're looking for speakers that are inconspicuous, then Bose is definitely the way to go.
