Anyone have cocktail or tea length BM dresses

I picked out knee length dresses for the BM's. All but one of the BM's are going to get their dress altered. So one BM will have a dress coming down to midcalf and the others will have knee length. I hate the idea, but I dont know what to do. How much do BM alterations usually cost? I think I may be paying for this a week before my wedding (which is the only time she can come to town). If you had shorter BM dresses does the hem come up when you put heels on?

just a hem shouldn't be that much $, was there a reason she wasn't getting hers altered?

I know laurenluvsTJ had knee-length dresses for her BM. Check her wedding review and FM her for any info.

My girls had slightly different lengths for their dresses, but it was all hovering around mid-calf

She doesnt want to get it hemed for money reasons. Which I totally understand and I dont want her to spend any more money on my wedding than she has to. But, I bought her the dress, the shoes and the jewlery and I dont care if she doesnt want to get her hair and makeup done. All I want is the dress hemed so it looks like the dress I picked out for them to wear.

The place i got to is Renates (in lindenhurst ) they charge 80.00 for alterations....

because i have some really short girls and some tall girls... i decided that everyone would get the dresses hemmed 2 inches below their knee.

i wore tea length for my sister's wedding, it looked bad not having the hems the same length. aparently, we were supposed to have them all hemmed so they dropped 18 inches from them floor. i would encourage your BM to get them hemmed correctly, it should be less than $20.

She needs to pay for the hem!!!! I mean come on...a hem is $20 bucks...you paid for all that her stuff basically!!!...but the flip side is that if you paid for all that already and her problem is truly money...I suggest you just pay for the hem and save yourself the aggrevation!!!

The dresses all came out slightly different lenghts, but looked great. One of the girls got her alterations done at the dry cleaners, I think it cost $30.
I don't think heels made a difference.

My BM's dresses were a little below the knee. We bought them off the rack and no one had the hem altered. The shortest BM did buy a petite size because the regular one would have been way too long and looked silly.

There are lots of pics of my BMs in my review (link in profile).

I had to get a dress altered for a friend's wedding and I took it to a dry cleaners. They charged $20 for the hem (they broke down the costs for me because she felt bad because there were sleeves that needed to be removed).
