Anyone have pics of...(or even just advice)

I was wondering if any of you had any pics of your home (interior). I am the worst decorator in the world and I wanted to get some ideas on color, furniture, themes etc.

I was thinking maybe some of you are in the middle of redecorating or maybe have already. It doesnt matter where you live..I live in an apartment but I need ideas. Im thinking of doing the living room a blue with white trim trying to make it look a little brighter since there is only one window that faces the driveway.

Any pics to share? Anyone who is painting now or had recently? Share here pleaseeeeeeee!

I have pics of the interior of the model homes we visited in FL but the film is still sitting on my dresser waiting to be developed.

As soon as I get them developed they'll be posted.

I took pics of my friends home as well because she is really into the native american thing and her entire house is native american.

I think you have seen photos of my living room (the red wall redo I posted a while back)...but that wont help you with the blue/white idea.

However, I used to have my whole house painted blue. Its a nice look. AndI just wanted to say that I think blue with white trim will look really nice :D

Do you really think so?? I love blue and every time I look for those colors on decoraters web sites it points more to a kids room than an adult living room but I love it!

I am trying to open up the small space of my living room..make things look light and airy and I figured in the winter when I want it to look cozy ill just make sure my throws are always out. I just need a way to bring it all together..I have the most old fashioned doors which lead to the kitchen and bedroom which is off the living room and i have no idea what to do with them..martha stewart I am not!

Count me in the group for the martha stewart I am not. My idea of making a room look airy and cozy a bouqet of flowers in a pretty vase.

That and candels. I love candels. I dont even light half of them, I just like the way they look.

Check out the decorating magazines that is what I have been doing. Home and garden is really good.

I love Blue with white trim - it reminds me of a beach house overlooking the water. How peaceful is that??

I too am decorating challenged. Thankfully DH loves doing things like that - he has a subtle taste that is much more classic then anything I would do. I tend to go towards bright colors (my old apt. had yellow & purple painted wood furniture with blue upholestered furniture:D)

Get some decorating/ remodeling magazines and look through some Pottery Barn/ furnature catalogues!
That is where I'm getting all of my ideas. I have a few pages ripped out so far that I'm definitley using ideas from.

nycchic - I think blue (the right shade) can be really nice. It is a 'cool' shade so keep that in mind. Just make sure you really like cool shades before you take the plunge.

I painted my whole house a light blue. It was nice but it was about a year in when I realized I really like warm colors. So whenver I would see a peice of furniture or something, it would be a warm tone and not go with the blue walls. So then I painted everything a warm beige.

A great thing about blue (IMO) is that white furniture looks really awesome against it. So if you have some old furniture, you can give it a distressed white paint job and the whole room looks put together instantly.

My advice is to not be afraid of color. So many people are but when it goes up and is finished it looks nice. I love white trim on colored walls too! DH and I are redoing our new home and we have the office with red walls, our bedroom with 'weathered wood', the LR, DR, and halls in a warm putty color and soon the kitchen will be sage green-ish sponge painted. Remember, it's paint and can be painted over (maybe with some extra work but easily can be done).

A pic on my role is my friends fire orange wall. At first sht wasnt sure about it, but after it was done it really looked good. Her bedroom is also a pretty purple.

A good suggestion (this is what my friend did) paint a small sample on the inside of your closet or someplace to give you an idea of how it looks on the wall. Do different coat samples to see which you like best.

We like to keep everything neutral. We have that chair molding too. Half the wall is one color and the other half is a lighter shade. It looks really nice.

another angle, you can tell in this angle that I have 2 different colored walls in the living room, the one wall that has the couch against it is called Spanish vellum and it has a tan base, the wall that is near the stairs is more of an off white.

Chair Railing is something that goes at waist level and its a big piece of molding that seperates the room in half.
I have to take a pic to show you.
Ask Stef.
She will explain better!

Here's a link to an old post called, Show Me Your Home...I posted a ton of pics of my home as well did others...a lot of them are of the exteriors, but there are some interiors.

I went throught the same thing as you did. My FI and I originally wanted blue walls, the whole beachy thing also. Well, we couldn't find any fabrics that went with the blue we had in mind. So, we forgot about the wall color, and turned to the fabrics of the furniture in each room...once we figured out what we liked, our designer chose the wall colors (all of the colors are from the Benjamin Moore Historic Collection). I have to say, I thought the colors were so ugly when they first went on the walls. But, when the furniture was delieverd, everything just went together so nicely, and now I love it.
