Anyone have problems scanning proofs?

Has anyone had any problems scanning their proofs? My scanner at work is a top of the line scanner but they keep coming out fuzzy.

The only thing the guy from IT said is perhaps it's because they are on matte paper?!!

Any suggestions...?
