My sinuses are in some serious pain lately... they have been especially bad the past week or so. Anyone have any tips for unclogging them? Or to help with the SEVERE congestions? I tried steaming, hot liquids, nose spray, perscription/non perscription drugs and NOTHING seems to work! SO frustrated. I know I can go to the doctor net week, there is some shot they give me that usually works within 24 hours but NEED RELIEF NOW!

yikes that sux ....the last few weeks if my sinuses bother me because of the rainy weather, i take over the counter Advil Cold& Sinus. Works well for me, and my dad SWEARS by Stop N Shop brand sinus medicine. Other than that, I am not sure what else you can do, I guess the dr will tell you...sorry

i hear ya! i am home sick on my vacation. i have been drinkin alot of tea and taking some otc meds for severe colds. i went to the doctor but he said that i dont have strep or a sinus infection, so i guess i just have to ride this out!

Do you have allergies?? Maybe that is what you have.I never had them till I got older. Last week was a bad week for everyone who suffers from allergies
this may sound unusual...but I make a cup of tea...and leave the spoon in...then I take the spoon and press it on my sinuses...
I guess its just putting heat on the area...

I suffer from sinus allergies... i like Flonase, a prescription nasal spray. The best OTC stuff I ever used and I swear by it is Afrin 12-hour formula. It is the BOMB... if you use it too much it will burn the inside of your nose a little but if you're having major congestion, Afrin is a great quick-fix!

i am using afrin too, although my fh tells me that it is very addicting!!! but i can breath, so thats a plus!!

Glad I am not alone! Misery loves company, I guess. I am using Afrin and floanse... hopefully it will start working soon! I know my DR said not to use it b/c it is addictive- said to use that stupid saline nose spray - but right now I could care less, LOL.
My are from allergies, too - I get shots and the whole 9 yards but this year seems especially horrible.

OK I have your solution - I need sinus surgery - so I get about 5-10 sinus infections a year and such tightness that I'm in sooo much pain.
Here we go - NOW try NOT to laugh too hard...here is what you do.
First - can you eat hot food - I get things like - Hot and sour soup, non alcoholic bloody mary's (ask for them to be spicy or make them spicy) and nachos with lots of jalopenos - ok so First you eat a bunch of HOT food - as spicy as you are comfortable with - that should get you to start draining a little.
OK THEN you take a face cloth and get into a HOT shower - as hot as you are comfortable with - then (don't laugh) sit down under the hot stream and keep the water running over your head - place the cloth over your cheeks to keep the heat there - then try to stay in there about 30 mins or so - and you try to blow your nose about every 5 mins or so.
Then when you get out eat some more spicy food - that will usually get you started - if you repeat this at least twice in a day it helps
