I passed by the new AOL building and there were cops in riot gear carrying AK47's... And now my FH just told me that there were about 30 cops outside his building on 6th ave...
Is something going on????

I looked everywhere on the internet and could not find anything. I am on 6th Avenue too but I did not see that.

It was extremely un-nerving to see the cops in riot gear with machine guns...I almost had a heart attack. Then my FH (on 47th and 6th) told me that he had seen about 30 cops by his building earlier.

Are those the sirens I'm hearing??? I'm on 6th and 51st. What building are they outside??? Maybe someone is finally strangling the head of my company.

Stop it! Let's all relax...I apologize, I'm usually the first one to panic... But...as I told my FH, we're true New Yorkers when seeing the police around actually makes us MORE nervous than not seeing them around...
I was at the new AOL building (Hugh Jackman was signing autographs, but I missed him ) I hated it inside...It reminded me of the WTC. I had to leave...So I took a walk uptown and on my way back down I saw the cops...
I don't know why they were there...
ETA: That's why I posted hoping maybe someone had the news on and/or had heard something...If Godforbid something was going on.

You make a good point.. here on 7th/51st I don't hear anything right now
Only think I can remember ... wasn't Kerry and Edwards going to be in town? or maybe I'm just getting the day wrong.
