Anyone have this experience?

Anyone have this experience?

Has anyone had the experience of trying on a dress they really like and the woman helping you won't tell you the designer or claims that it is one of 'the stores'?????

Not me personally, but I've heard of it happening. I'd walk out. That's a big red flag that they're pulling something on you--if nothing else, how can you check the price if they won't tell you? You have the right to find out the MSRP of the gown and see if they're giving you a reasonable price.

Yeah some places have designers who design exclusively for them. This happend with mine, but i ordered it b/c I loved it and hadn't seen anything else like it.

When I asked who makes it, she said Souki Couture and I said I hadn't heard of them. Mine was at Bridal Suite and it was in my price range so i got it. This is the only dress I tried on that I never heard of.

Just beware if it looks like something you have seen before- that would be a little suspicious.

The weird thing is they didn't give the name of s designer then this other woman walked over and the woman helping me said this was the designer....

sort of...princess bridals REFUSED to give me the style number of a Bill Levkoff gown!! They not only lost my business, but also my 10 BM's!

I had the opposite I knew the maker but they wouldnt tell me the price. She just says I think around and I will have to check on that.. She didnt even have it in her inventory. I wont hold my breath waiting for her to call.

I found quite a few stores that won't tell you the designer or even let you take pictures. A few others had you try on other brides dresses before they got picked up too!
I didn't even bother with those places. If their service and prices were worth it, they wouldn't be so crazy about it.

Re: Anyone have this experience?

I've heard of that...they also number the gowns differently than what the real style # is so when you try to find them online you have a REALLY hard time.
They do it so you dont get the same dress somewhere else. SOOOOO annoying because we're looking for the best price and they just wnt totake as much $$ as they can get out of us!!

Re: Anyone have this experience?

Theres no tag in the gown to say the designers name??? Or do they cover it up/cut it off ?

I've heard of it, but it never happened to me. I heard they do it so that you don't use them just to try on the dress and then purchase it cheaper online.

From what I was told, I thought this was the norm! I’m very relieved to hear there are plenty of places that don’t act like this.

YES!!! I hate that. It happened with my mom at Sugarplum (she bought the dress anyway - we still don't know the designer)

It just all seems bery shady to me!

Re: Anyone have this experience?

Yes this happened to me. They wouldnt tell me the designer unless I put a deposit down on the dress. They cut the tags out of all of their bridal, BM and MOB dresses. I actually ended up figuring out what dress I tried on so they lost my business. I just felt uncomfortable with the place...a bit too shady for me!
