Just wondering if anyone has veneers (lumineers)? I really want to fix my gapped teeth for the wedding and wanted to know if anyone has experienced the process?
I was a dental assistant for many years and worked for the best dentist ever. He always did a great job with veneers and if taken care of and done right...they are amazing. Definitely feel free to ask me any questions about it...

Re: Anyone have veneers?
lumineers might be a good way to get over the fear. thats what i really want to do
O worked for Dr. Richard Henner in Valley Stream. I also worked for a few others that I WONT mention and thats what proved to me how good he was in comparison. They are quite costly of course and are not covered much by insurance because it is a cosmetic procedure. Another option is invisalign. This is good for those with a small gap...its like braces but its a clear mouthguard that you wear.
forgot the sedation question...my doctor only used novacaine....you definitley dont need to be sedated for this unless you are a bad patient..meaning that you are terrified and cant sit still. Most general dentists dont put you out but specialists will...just another costly add on,

Re: Anyone have veneers?
Is there a ballpark figure? I think I saw that its around $500/lumineer. is that accurate?
its definitely a few hundred per tooth but make sure you get find a dentist who someone recommends through personal experience. You want to get a real natural look with veneers...not hollywood chicklets! LOL

Re: Anyone have veneers?
i was quoted 1K a tooth.....so i decided to do invisalign instead - i rather have all my teeth be straight instead of just doing in the front.....i think veneers need to be re-done every so many years and i dont think you can do tooth whitening if you get them - not sure though......
1k is pretty costly but it all depends on the area you are in.... as for whitening..no you cannot change the color of veneers. The key is to bleach your natural teeth first, then match that color to your veneers. the veneers will NEVER change color because they are porcelan. If you take care of them properly and dont chew on a screwdriver (lol) they will last very long! At least 20 years.

I got them. If you go to a dentist that can prove that you need them for med. reason they might be covered. For instance, my ins. covered half of them. I also have dental coverage. You may want to get a dental plan first,(look into some) and then try for them. You can always cancel the policy if you are not happy. It might be worth checking into.

I work in a doctors office and we tend to get a lot of cosmetic procedures done through insurance. Like botox, we look at them and say, so your having a tremor, right?? lol

Re: Anyone have veneers?
Your dentist is awesome! As a dental student, $$$ is a big topic and veneers are VERY lucrative. I was always advised that I should look into veneers to get rid of the staining on my front teeth. My current dentist/former classmate said that I would regret doing the veneers and all I really needed was a good bleaching...my teeth look AWESOME now!
I'd recommend invisalign or bonding if you have a gap, and whitening if you have staining. Veneers are a great option if you have a specific situation, but you'll be loosing A LOT of your tooth structure in the front and they'll have to be replaced (i.e., you have to pay for new ones) every 5-7 yrs.

Even the lumineers??? Those are just attached to the front of the teeth and you dont have to remove tooth structure. Maybe just a sanding to rough the front so that the tooth bonds well.
