Anyone having/have had their dress custom made..

..or custom altered in any way? If so, just curious how everything worked out and if you had any problems with the seamstress...?

I got a priscilla of boston dress - it was originally high necked - (they are showing it now in many magazines with a scoop neck now) but I wanted it strapless - They custom made it strapless - I was able to look at other dresses and pick the type of neckline that I wanted and whether i wanted piping on it or not). My dress came in about a month ago - I had my first and ONLY fitting on 2/27 - when I get back to MI i will post photos

Oooh! Glad everything worked out for you. I thought I was the only one who decided to go this route. My dress has cap sleeves, which are being taken off to add spagetti straps and bell sleeves which are dropped off the shoulder. I can't wait until the final stitch!

this is similar to what mine will look like as far as the sleeves, except mine is a scoop neck. the sleeves will match the embroidery and lace from my dress.

ugh. forgot to post pic. duh.

Yeah my mommy too... I think she is going ot add sleeves onto my gown not postive yet.. But either way we are ordering extra fabric from the designer and also some extra beads so that we can match the pattern.

If anythign I will give the fabric to the florist and use the beads in my veil.

She is going to be too busy making her own gown to be making one for me... Luckly I am getting married in Jan and nov/dec is a slow season for the dressmakers so she will have the time to do it.

Thanks! well not exact, but similar. I love bell sleeves and as far as sleeves go I didn't want anything tapered. I think that would annoy my the whole night.

my dress is being cutom made as well. we supplied the designer w/ a sample style (from another designer) and she is gown to create the gown based on that sample.

I thought I was the minority - but from this post i guess note. My mom made mom and I love it love it. I got a lot of compliments. even my DH loved it.
I mixed a bunch of styles. I started out with sleeves. I wanted the medieval style but ended up with strapless after trying on a bunch of different styles.

Weezy - WOW!!!!

Your mom's amazing!

Here's my model. FH drew the designs on the sides and my mom's making them with appliques and beading. Accents will be silver:
