Anyone having or had a Day Wedding??

I'm starting to wish I was not having my wedding from 12-530P. People are complaining that its early. Who had a day wedding and were you happy that you did? I've heard people stating that they are going to continue their celebration elsewhere after they leave the reception hall.

Ugh why would someone complain to you! It is your wedding, not theirs! People are so rude! I am having a day wedding and I don't regret it. If someone has a problem then they don't have to come..that's how I see it. Don't second guess yourself, your day~ your way!

The reason why we are having a day wedding, is first, we went to a few, and they we some of the best weddings, and second, we know we aren't going to be able to hang out with our friends as much as we would like especially the OOT guests, so we will be continuing the party at the hotel!

I also think that is extremely rude to say that to you. Anyway, I am having a day wedding. Its summer on the water. I want to enjoy the view. We are at Chateau La Mer and there is no other wedding during my day so we will have the place to ourselves. I'm looking forward to it, but dont know what were doing afterwards yet, if anything.

We're having a day wedding followed by an after-party for close friends/relatives. It just wasn't worth it to me to pay $25+/head more for the same party, but on Sat night.

Reactions and issues so far have been:
-- 'I don't have to wear a long dress' from my 13 going on 25 y/o cousin
-- loads of babysitter issues (but they'd have the same issues, if not worse, if the wedding was at night)
-- initial trouble finding a florist to deliver flowers by 8:00 am

You're all scaring me. I'm having a day wedding next year. The way I look at it is, if people want to be there and love you, they'll be there and no one will complain and if they are going to complain, don't come!

I always love day weddings, they are so much fun! You can get together with your guests afterwards and drinking during the day is always awesome.

We're having a day wedding! We're so excited about it too. We wanted one because it's an autumn theme and who the heck can enjoy the beautiful colors when it's dark out! It'll be tough getting up so early, but it's worth it to us and thankfully we haven't heard any serious complaints...just people pulling our legs.. You and your FH chose that time for a reason and stick to it & enjoy the day!

we wanted to be able to have the wedding in the daylight because the room is beautiful with all the windows plus we're going to be spending time with our close friends at the hotel afterwards..a nighttime wedding is nice but i can't stay up that late anymore

Re: Anyone having or had a Day Wedding??

We had the option of starting the ceremony and everything at 3pm at our place, but chose 1pm because 1. It's a Sunday and we wanted to give somewhat OOT people the option of driving home earlyish and 2. It's a vineyard and we wanted people to enjoy it when it was light out and 3. I think a day wedding has a more relaxing feel.

I think it will be fine! to the people who complain!

i am having an afternoon wedding. ceremony at 12:30 and reception at 1pm. I like the idea. It's not too late. Especially if you have out of state/town guests. i was thinking of having them come to my house since i live with my fh.

We're having a day wedding and are looking forward to it very much! What difference does it make to other people what time you chose?! Some people have nerve!

We are planning to continue to party at the hotel with whoever wants to join us after the wedding - so it'll be an all-day affair anyway!

We're having a day wedding as well. Ceremony is at 11:30am. No one has complained. We're planning on inviting people back to the house after to continue the celebration since it will still be early. I'm looking forward to it.

I had a day wedding and it was great!!! I am glad I went with a day wedding instead of an evening wedding. It felt like the party lasted all day long. Also my new husband and I got to sepnd some quality time on our wedding night without being totally exhausted. It was great!!! Don't worry about those complaining now. Once they are at your wedding and having a great time, the time of day won't even matter.

The 3 best weddings we went to have been day weddings so that is why we chose to have a day wedding...If your guests are party people, which mine are, you know they will party no matter what time of day or night...When our reception is over, we are staying at the Inn at East Wind so there will be plenty of time to unwind and hang out with any guests who decide to stay out there with us and it also leaves plenty of 'special' time with FH!!! Some people just like to complain!!

People complained to you? UGH - I HATE PEOPLE!

I have been to many day weddings and had a good time. It is about you, your FH, your family and those who love and care about you...no matter what time it is!

I'm having a day wedding on a Sunday. I'm getting married at Lands End on the water and want people to enjoy the view, the weather (hopefully), and eveything else the day has to offer. It would have cost me almost double to have it on a Saturday night, and we felt it would be just as special during the day on Sunday. In fact, most of the weddings I've been to have been day weddings. Don't let anyone discourage you with rude comments. Remember that it's YOUR day!

Re: Anyone having or had a Day Wedding??

There were a few reasons that we chose a day wedding:

1) We are actors, and we didn't want to make friends choose between doing a show (a paying gig) that night and going to our wedding.

2) We wanted an outdoor wedding by the water, and we didn't want to worry about squeezing in all the outdoor enjoyment before the sun sets.

3) We didn't want to sit around waiting all day for the wedding (we won't be seeing eachother beforehand) and then cram everything into a few hours. This way we start early, and we can still continue the party with our friends at the hotel afterward.

For those reasons, I don't regret it. That having been, I am finding it really annoying that people seem to make editorial comments about it:

'Oh, your invitations are stunning. I just didn't realize it was a day wedding.' (subtext: such formal invitations for a daytime affair...)

'A day wedding? So does that mean it's not a formal thing?'

'Well, don't expect people to be drinking and dancing so much-- it is the afternoon.'

Not to mention all the 'advice' about make-up, dresses, etc., based on the fact that the reception is during the day. Enough with that. I am going to wear the colors and styles that suit me and my maids regardless of what the sundial says. Period. Here endeth the rant...
