I am really interested in seeing how much people have paid for this and if anyone knows a good seamstress.
I want a very simple dress and have a very clear idea of what I want it to look like, but am having a lot of trouble finding it. It has been hard for me to find something that doesnt have a lot of ruffles, bows, sparkles, etc. (which is just not my style) but is still elegant and not completely boring.
So now I am at the point where I think it will be easier and even cheaper to have the gown made. So if anyone has tips, recommendations, referrals, etc. let me know!

Re: Anyone having their gown made for them?
I am not really sure what type of dress you are looking for (simple I know) but why don't you check out the Priscilla of Boston website they have some very beautiful simple dresses I almost bought # 2907. Not 1 bow nor 1 bead. Also you may want to try Stephanie @ SVT couture. Her email is [email protected]. SHe also has a website SVTcouture.com (I think). I contact her when I wasn't really sure what I wanted. HTH

What kind of cut, neckline, fabric are you looking for? I have been looking for a simple dress, but with a bit of beading or something like that...so i may have tried on something you would be interested in...i have literally tried on at least a hundred dresses...and i have many pics on my computer that may help, so just give me an general style of what you are looking for and maybe i have one that's similar to what you want.

sounds like what I am looking for too. What exactly do you want? I want some beading but no poof. I also don't want to break the bank $$
I go tomorrow to see the sample of the one I am loving now.

Re: Anyone having their gown made for them?
I am looking for an A-line or Mermaid cut, strapless either straight across or sweetheart (which i never thought i liked, but tried a few on and thought they were actually very pretty).
I am very open to the material, just not overly lacy.
I was able to find more simple elegant ones that werent boring, but they were $3000-4000, which seemed so silly for such simple dresses.
I will check out the designers you guys suggested and look into the 06 boards. Thanks guys!!

I am using Robin, her shop is called Designs on You. It is in Port Jefferson Station on Terryville Rd (right off of 347). Her number is 631-473-6363.
The price was more than reasonable, and she is really easy to work with.

Re: Anyone having their gown made for them?
There are designers that the dresses are under 1K and a more slim A/sheeth.
is this to plain?

Here are 2 Maggie Sotteros....one is Chandra the other is Corina

I actually was just looking at her stuff and I did like a bunch of her dresses. My problem is that I find dresses that I 'like' but cant find ones that I 'LOVE'. There is always only one aspect of the dress I like, but not the whole thing.
Maybe I am just pickier than I thought.

Have you checked out Alvina Valenta? I am the same way - I don't like a lot of fussiness, but I seem to always like her dresses. Alvina Valenta
