I registered for the Mikasa French Countryside everyday china and I've received 4 sets. Since using them, they have scratch marks all over the plates. So I went to Bed Bath and Beyond to talk to them and see what they could do. I was ready to return them. The woman working at the registry said that since I am using old flatware on them (my mom's old stuff) the flatware was wearing off on the plates. Bed Bath and Beyond gave me a cleaner that they said would get it off. It did not work. I was a little skeptical of it to begin with.
Does this seem strange to anyone? I'm ready to return the whole set (they said that they would take everything back) and cancel the entire Mikasa set on my registry! Any one ever experience this???

Re: Anyone here have Mikasa everyday china?
the same thing happened to my mothers new dishes awhile ago, they were pfaltzgraf and we were told that the silverware we were using was too good and causing a chemical reaction with the plate and they weren't really scratches they were marks that would come off with a special cleaner. They gave us a free bottle of the cleaner and my mother tried it but who the hell wants to wash their dishes by hand with a special cleaner all the time so she returned them.

yikes! thats what we registered for---mikasa french countryside. i don't know, amazon had good ratings for it, i've never heard of that happening! we registered for the coordinating flatware, so hopefully we will avoid that problem. thats strange. ~lacey

uh oh, i also registered for mikasa everyday china. i hope this doesn't happen with my set also. if it's the flatware though, it sounds like it can happen with any brand. is there anyway to prevent this issue with my fine china also?
