Anyone hike? I have a footwear ?

DH and I are going hiking in a state park near our house this weekend. The trails are established, we won't be 'roughing it' too much.

I have sneakers and these sport sandals that I love. I don't want to wear the sneakers because my feet will sweat too much but I don't know if the sandals will provide enough protection. Like, could I get poison ivy on my feet?

Thoughts? TIA.

hmmm are ticks an issue? I like to keep as covered up as possible (lightweight, light pants, sneakers, light socks) so ticks don't get too close.

I always wear walking shoes ( like Rockports) b/c they protect your feet (ticks, msoquitos, sunburn, posion ivy, scatches if you fall) & have better traction than sneakers, but sneakers are good too if it is nothing too crazy.

If there is any dirt, it will get in your sandals & is really annoying.

If you wear cotton socks, you feet shoudln't sweat too much in sneakers.

You know, you could put deodorant on your feet. I don't do that, but I have a friend with sweaty feet who does, and says it really helps.

Ooh. . good idea! There may actually be a foot spray for that purpose!

Ooh, I didn't even think of ticks! I'm not worried about sunburn because the tops of my feet have been burned in the past so I am diligent with sunscreen. For now I'll stick with the sneakers- if it seems like we're going to be regular hikers I'll invest in shoes that are more suited to that purpose.

Thanks ladies.
