Anyone Honeymoon or ever vacation in French Polynesia?
So FH and I have decided that we want to go to French Polynesia for our Honeymoon - and I was hoping to get some recommendations on hotels (or if you have horror stories, those are good to know too!)
We haven't decided on an island yet either - maybe Bora Bora or Tahiti....
any thoughts?.....

We went to the French Polynesia for our HM. We took a cruise, it was all inclusive, and there was nightlife. liquor was extra. We were on the Tahitan Princess. Feel free to FM mail me if u have any questions that i might be able to answer. It was the one of the best trips we ever took!

we went and it was amazing. we were in tahiti for a night, then 3 in moorea and 4 in bora bora. Tahiti is a waste of time ... everyone will tell you that. Most people will fly in and just catch the next flight to the next island. It's good if you want to go into Papeete (the main city) but other than that don't waste your time. Moorea is great for activities and the medium sized one of the three islands. Bora Bora is the most amazing. The water is gorgeous and breathtaking. The island is very small though, so aside from the normal activites (snorkeling, scuba diving, etc) there's not too much to do. we loved it there because it was complete relaxation. Oh and we stayed in overwater bungalows at the Intercontinental Hotels at all 3 islands and absolutely loved it. I could go on forever...

Bora Bora looks beautiful - and from your review it sounds like it is exactly what I am looking for - a nice relaxing, mellow honeymoon. I definitely want to stay in the overwater bungalows - I think they are so worth the extra money.

Was going to go to Bora Bora for our HM in may ( not going right away in april) but 3 travel agents rec its NOT SAFE right now to go over there and everyone said they are scared to go there right now- b/c of the ocean having a hot vibration also in that area from the tsunami. so I think hawaii it is and napa valley- your going in 06 hopefully it will be safe then. but its already a month later and its not safe to go.

I haven't heard ANYONE say it's not safe. The tsunami happened in the Indian Ocean. FP is in the Pacific Ocean where a warning system is already in place.
Natural disasters, terrorism and random acts of violence can happen anywhere.

I think I read that India also had a warning system and it wasnt used, I have heard it many times it isnt safe the vibration and ripple IS in the pacific ocean. I have a friend who is a scientist and she is the one who told me she also sent me an article about it- i will ask her to resend it to me.

I didn't even think about the tsunami as a threat in French Polynesia, since it just happened in the Indian Ocean. I'm not too concerned though since I'm not getting married till June or July 2006!
