I have this one girl who keeps making these comments about being a BM. My Bridal party has been set since April and asked and we have started already.
I told her at this place one night that I was going to make my girls wear this hideous dress (as a joke) and she said 'I am not wearing that thing!!!???' I guess I should have nipped it in the bud then but I was in total shock!!!
I love how people come up to me and say 'I better be invited!'
What the heck is wrong with people!!!!????

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
I used to think this was going to be so akward for me - Now, i'm just like, you know what ? If they are audacious enough to tell me 'I better be invited' I have NO problem telling them, 'we haven't finalized out guest list' or 'we have such a big family I don't know if it will be possible for me to invite everyone i'd like to' - As for the BP - I had one girl from college that I rarely speak to anyomre say 'i'm going to be a BM right?' - ummmmmmmm, NO ! I felt like telling her she wasn't even on the guest list !! ugh !

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
I had alot of 'I'm invited, right?' And I was like, I have a budget and we are still making the list but we can't invite everyone. Also, someone I know came up and said 'Geeze I have never been to a wedding before, and now there are 3 coming up' But I am not close to most of these people. Whats up?!
But I guess when you have not planned a wedding before, you don't realize the cost that goes into it and you lack appreciation for it.

Sh**, I am feeling like I am so hard up for people to come to my wedding that if someone were to invite him/herself, I might whip out an invite and say, 'Hey, come!' We have SO many out of towners and most of them are not coming, so I worry about meeting the minimum.
As for the BP, I don't know- I am such a pushover that I'd probably end up having the person.

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
FSIL told her whole side of the fam she was 'shocked' she was not asked to be in the Bridal Party (she is 14 years older than me with 5 kids) and found it to be completely rude.
Many 'I better be invited' people.
I get as mad and shocked as you Flaca. I really would NEVER do that to anyone!?!
Who raised these people!?

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
someone I work with assumes that she is invited to the wedding- she said something to another co-worker who I have been friends with for a long time. I didn't plan on inviting her- plus, i'm looking for a new job and probably wont be at that job by my wedding...but still, it's so annoying for ppl to just assume.

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
people are really so crazy!! right after i got engaged i was over my friends house (BM) discussing wedding stuff, and her younger sister was like so what color are we wearing???? I didnt know what to say so i kind of just laughed and said oh i dont know any of that yet!!! I mean she has always been like our little sister of the group but I am even debating inviting her to the wedding?? the list has to stop somewhere and we are already up to 297
THEN....... about a month ago old family friends called (who we havent seen or spoken to in at least 5 years) called to make sure of my wedding date because they want to send their parents away for their anniversary but they want to make sure its not during our wedding!!!!! OMG they werent even a thought!!!!

OH YES!!!!!!!! I hated that they put me in such an awkward position. This happened mainly at work. I think some people were a bit tiffed that they did not get invited after they sort of said they were waiting for an invite

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
I am on such a buget because we are paying for our wedding ourselves... we bolth come from large families FH has 19 sets of aunts and uncles... i have 12... then the cousins!! AHH.. then friends!... we decided to invite all aunts and uncles, freinds, and cousins over a certin age... We are at FBIL's and his wifes mother is there.. she starts talking to FH about wedding.. Point blank states she better be invited.. FH is so taken back he says of course (Thinking it is the only polite response) so now i have to send out an invitation to my FBIL's MIL and i am not inviting all of my own relatives!!!!! People really don't get it !!!

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
Get this, I have yet to set a date for my wedding, but I'm having my e-party in May 2005....and guess what...I'M GETTING PEOPLE INVITING THEMSELVES.....It's so amazing...I said only close, immediate family and a few close friends who will be in the bridal party...My minimum is 110, but last night I was doing ONLY MY list (excluding my FI) and I reached over 100...one of my bridesmaid's already assumed her family (mother, father, 3 bro's) were begin invited and my mouth just dropped to the floor. The funny thing is I'm not inviting all my cousins and I'm going to invite her family...NO WAY. I still have to start cutting into family because this e-party is getting bigger and bigger.
People just don't understand....this is only an e-party (for close immediate family and friends)....a wedding will follow!
P.S.- Not to mention, this friend of mine told me two weeks after I got engaged whether I was planning on having her in my BP...she told me she was curious because I had not said anything to her....Granted, I was going to have her as a bridesmaid, but HELLO...I was only engaged for two weeks...the least she could do is wait to be asked.
