I have this one girl who keeps making these comments about being a BM. My Bridal party has been set since April and asked and we have started already.
I told her at this place one night that I was going to make my girls wear this hideous dress (as a joke) and she said 'I am not wearing that thing!!!???' I guess I should have nipped it in the bud then but I was in total shock!!!
I love how people come up to me and say 'I better be invited!'
What the heck is wrong with people!!!!????

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
It's so awkward to be put into that position!
How about people who nag to be invited (along with FOUR members of their family) and then they decide NOT to come?
I don't understand people sometimes!

Noone invited themselves into our bridal party (but with the amount of people we have in it, i think we'd be hard pressed to find someone that we actually left out anyway...)
And yes one couple invited themselves to our wedding...'We better be invited...I'll be very disappointed if we're not invited...'

I had people say the same thing to me. For some people - of course they were invited. For others I just said that we have a large wedding, and I'm not able to. Sometimes it was really awkward.
As for the wanna be BM? Just tell her that you have to keep the Bridal Party to a min. because of expenses.
Wait until you get rsvp's back with 5 people coming when you only invited 2!!!! LOL

People have invited themselves to our wedding. It's annoying. We just say that we haven't done the guest list yet.

All I can say is WOW. I cannot imagine inviting myself into someone's wedding. Is she family or a close friend?
As for the wedding, we invited just about everyone so no one had a chance to invite themselves.

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
I have a friend who told me after I picked my BM that she was very insulted that I didn't ask her to be in my BP. Instead of feeling akward about it, I got angry. I was like, I chose who I wanted to choose and where do you get off saying anything about it?! We've only had two people add guests onto their repsonse cards. as annoying as that is, I guess it's not too bad. FH got 'guilted' this weekend into inviting this kid he was friendly with in high school. I was so mad when I found out.

My boss invited herself and her husband. But I don't mind cause she makes a load of money and will hopefully give us a really give gift.

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
Haven't had anyone invite themselves, but I have been VERY low key about the whole thing and steer conversation away from wedding talk if I know I am not inviting them.
However.....FH's cousin is coming in from out of town and invited herself to our rehearsal dinner. I know that in some cases OOTs get invited, but we have so many that is impossible. Also the BP is just MOH and BM and the 2 readers- so the RD is really just brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews of ours very small and immediate family. If you are wondering, I am very proud of FH for telling her 'No.'

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
To answer....she is a sorority sister whom I love very much but my Bridal Party already consists of 11 FAMILY members and 2 best friends. I have over 65 sorority sisters so I drew the line somewhere.
I will tell her that we kept it stringent to family but the set some people have just amazes me sometimes!!!!

I had a friend from college e-mail me (who I haven't spoken to or seen for over a yr) giving me his address b/c he didn't get his invitation yet... I am flattered that he wants to go but he's not invited...sorry...

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
No one assumed they were in the BP but people did invite themselves. A friend of my parents asked if we could invite his two daughters and their husbands becasue he doesn't want to come along. Tht's 4 extra adults! The other strange one is my sister's boyfriend's co-worker who though it would be a fun time. My mother's attitude is that I receive more gifts in the end. Yet I get a hard time about inviting too many people .....

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
ok ladies.. I must admit.. WHen my childhood best friend got married 2 yrs ago.. She told me her bridal party and my heart sunk...I was not included. She picked only her 5 cousins that she was very close with.. We have been friends since 6yrs old, and I made her the Godmother of one of my sons..ANyway, It bothered me for days, so I finally wrote her a long letter expressing how I felt.. She said, she has other close friends that she went to college with, so she decided not to put any friends at all.. I guess because I don't have any sisters or girl cousins, she was the closest thing to it for me.. but on her end, she had loads of cousins// Long story short, she winded up putting me in the wedding.. I didn't even care that I had to do what I did to get in it.. I love her, and I couldn't imagine not being apart of her wedding party.. I don't think there is anyone else in the worls I would have done that to though..
I met my Fiance at her wedding.. He is her husband's childhood friend.. she and her husband r the MOH and BM at our wedding.

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
I've kinda had that - not too bad though... i want to invite everyone - but my budget just doesn't fit that!
My favorite is my mom telling me that i need to take people off my list... but she keeps on adding people i don't know to hers... hmm...

Re: Anyone Invite themselves to your wedding or...
It's weird. Ever since the engagement was announced all these people who I have not talked to in ages have told me in a subtle and many not so subtle ways that 'they can't wait for the wedding.' Um, not planning to invite many of these folks. Too awkward and IMO in really poor taste!
