anyone just freaking? 3 1/2 week oh GOD!

getting married in 3 1/2 weeks and it's just finally starting to settle in. i know he is the one and things willbe JUST fine, but i think it's just that i have been soo busy with the planning and summer school (yes, still in college!) and now that everything is winding down, i am REALLY starting to feel it. any advice on how i can calm myself down? i feel like i want to rip my house apart and start from scratch just to keep myself occuppied! anyone else having the same feelings?

I think your instinct to rip your house apart is coming from the need to organize your head! Sometimes, cleaning is a really great outlet. Maybe you should take a few hours and scrub away. It will keep you occupied and will burn off some stored up energy!

yeah , you are right jenn but i think it'a also the BIG Picture that is freaking me out too! alll of the sudden the whole idea of marriage is scary! i dont know.. just feeling strange...

well marriage is a super scary thing. I keep telling myself that it's normal to feel strange...it's a huge step (in the right direction!) but it comes with all new territory. I totally understand the way you feel. I know I will be staring at the same feelings 3 1/2 weeks before mine too! Just remember how NORMAL and NATURAL that is. Maybe you and your FH should take some time and do some fun relaxing things. Even if you just rent a bunch of movies and eat Chinese food in bed - it might be nice to concentrate on your closeness to remind you how sure you really are! Good luck!

jenny - that is a great idea and thank you for making me feel that much more comfortable. it IS scary, just a bit, but i do know for sure that he is the one. we've been together 5 1/2 years and i have been waiting for this for a LONG time now. i really think some days without wedding talk and wedding frustrations will do us good. chinese food in bed sounds like a plan!

I can totally relate. Yesterday I was going non-stop from 8am-12pm and I was still looking for things to do. I'm the type of person that has to have everything in order when my mind is a mess, hence the cleaning and rearranging.

I still have 6 weeks to go, and I feel like I don't even recognize myself. I feel like I should wear a sign that says 'Temporarily Insane' to warn people. My poor FH is just beginning to feel the brunt of it. This all just started last week, so I'm new at dealing with it. But I've been concentrating on getting one thing done at a time, even though my mind wants to race on about everything else I have to do. I also find that working out has helped a ton. It does take up precious time, but it helps me straighten my head out, and I sleep much better too. I've also been trying to laugh about all that is going on when I can :)

Hopefully there will be days between now and then that a calm will come over you, and give you a chance to rest.

thanks jen g - i knew i wasn't the only one!!! it's just weird! last week was the first week i skipped the gym in months so maybe that's why? i hear you on the sign - it's like 'watch out - here i come!' and my poor FH too - i feel like everything he is doing is starting to annoy me. not so much him, but his family, who has to make comments about everything. i've just totally been on edge the last few days and it makes you think 'am i really doing the right thing?'

Lauren, I am Sept 6 too!!

Yes, I am starting to freak myself. I feel like there is no way that I am going to get everything done, I am going to forget something, and Im not going to have enough money!!
Then this past week on my days off (Thurs and Fri) I had the flu!! So it kind of slowed me down a lot from getting things done.
Now this coming w/e is my Fh's 30th birthday and Im trying to have a get together for him, which is not helping.

What do you still have left to do? Did you get all of your responses yet? Im still waiting for a few.

Wow - you too on the 6th! I got most of my rsvp's back but still waiting on a few. People are sooo inconsiderate I feel somtimes, but anyway... Most of everything is done. Working on floral arrangements, maybe have some menus printed (if I can find the time!!) and seating now which I could tell already is going to be a HUGE pain in the butt! How about you? I think I need one night without wedding talk or stuff or anything to make me feel better. It's just all this anxiety! Wheer are you getting married? We are having our reception at the Fox Hollow. Akkkkk!

Stress is normal (at least I think it is? I was so stressed)...and it will ALL be worth it after everything is finished!! On your day...you will not do anything but look pretty and enjoy your day...thats why you have hired your fabulous vendors...A lot goes into planning a wedding and if you are on these boards you are obsessed with making everything perfect...if you have a lot left ot do, make a to-do list and organize how you will get each done and when.

btw...did you grow up in greenlawn/centerport? your name looks familiar...does your mom work in a school library? I think my mom may work with her...when I met her she mentioned her daughter getting married...

I am a week and a half away and the running around last minute is unbelievable. Just try to stay calm because as far as I am concerned it gets more crazy the closer I get. Good luck!

I agree, I cant believe that some people cannot respond to an invitation. Geez, I gave them 8 weeks, you think they could write their name and a number and put it in an envelope, but nooooo.
I just have to meet with my dj and photographer, do seating arrangements (which I started), and work on favors. Although there is probably something I am forgetting!!
We are having our reception at the Port Jeff Country Club. The Fox Hollow is really nice, what room are you having it in?
You and your FH should do something non wedding related one night and get away from it all, go into the city or drive out east or something to relax!

Jenn K - I'm telling ya - people and their responses - unbelieveable! You know how many people I had to call myself and I found it ridiculous! 'OH, that's right - I forgot!' I too gave people like 6 weeks and I am still waiting on a few. INSANE!

Don't know if you remember me- You're brother's friend Melissa...
Anyway, I just got married 2 months ago (yes I'm still lurking on the boards!) And believe me- the stress is totally normal. I was a basket case trying to get everything done, and all the 'comments' from everyone made me feel like I was going to lose my mind. DEFINITELY take some time to be together and do nothing wedding related! It really helps. And to be honest, the day was unbelievable and well worth all the stress. But just keep in mind, it might be a little 'weird' for a few weeks after you are married as well- its a big change. But I promise you, as long as you know he is the one, it will all go away, and you will feel amazingly 'calm' and 'content'.
