anyone just want to elope

i am so sick of wedding planning- everything - i can't believe how much money i am spending on one day - (actually my dad, but i still feel bad) - i just want to go to the islands and elope- MY Fi has no interest in this though

Thats funny - cause I was the opposite - I was so tired of the planning and my DH was the one that said let's elope. The only reason I didn't was because of our families - both of our mothers would have been crushed

I would love to elope!! Our families wouldn't be happy though. I agree it is ALOT of money for one day. Even when you don't go crazy is still comes out to alot.

YES!!!!!!!! it costs $40 for a marriage license in NY state. that's all I keep thkinking about. $40 and it's done.

Fh's brother just eloped down in puerto rico. I think i would regret it. It seems very anticlimatic. They came home and that was that...they're married. Granted, they saved a ton of money but no one was there with them to share the day.

I do! That was the original plan since we met, but once we got engaged, our families gave us guilt trips and we love our families, so...

It would be nice to have a party with everyone when we came back, but as for the wedding ceremony itself - I wish we could be alone to do it - it's more romantic that way. I also would have hated it if he proposed with anyone around - we're just very private people.

In general, we hate parties (neither of us have ever thrown one - I didn't even wnt a Sweet 16) and I just hate the idea of spending all that money on a wedding, inviting people you hardly know or talk to just to meet a hall's quota, and literally paying for other people to have fun (because you know they won't give you in wedding gifts what you laid out for their plate). We are very very cheap, especially when it comes to other people, and very selfish (but not with each other) and so planning this wedding is hard for us to do.

And please don't hate, I'm just being brutally honest.

Yes, I think about it more and more as it gets close, just b/c the stress of money seems so overwhelming. But I think when I am older I would regret not having the big wedding I always dreamed of.

So, I'm not the only one. FI wants the wedding and I'd be fine with something small (under 10 guests) in Mexico. He thinks we should have a 'proper' wedding so I'm going along with it although I do not want to blow all the cash we have saved on one day. He wants a band too

I was all about eloping when we got engaged. FH said no way. Now he's seeing all the nonsense drama and was like 'I'm sorry we didn't just elope.'

We eloped in sept. Family made a big stink of us not having a wedding, even thought they are not paying for it. I had a wonderful time eloping in vegas. It was very memorable and it was just me and my husband. We are constantly complaining about how much money is being tossed away for a 5 hr party. I really wish we just eloped and said no to the wedding.
