anyone know a retired priest ??

Hi all

Was wondering if anyone knew or is using a retired priest for their wedding? we are both RC but have to decided to have an outdoor wedding and are in search of a retired priest... I've checked out Father Bob but he's doing four weddings on my day so trying to see if there's anyone else out there thats good.. or even if they know a parish where a priest is willing to perform an outdoor ceremony? i know that its unheard of but thought i'd ask anyways...

I believe there are vendors on this site, i think they're listed under officiants. these 'retired' priests are often de-frocked priests or those who have left the church. they have been given no authority (or have lost that authority) by the Church to officiate sacraments.

but, just so you know, if you have an outdoor wedding, your marriage will not be recognized by the Church (basically it will not be considered a Sacrament) because it was performed outside. If you don't care about that, that's fine, but if you do, then you should go talk to your priest. You will hardpressed to find a priest to perform a wedding outside and have it recognized as a Sacrament. Outside weddings can sometimes happen, but they require a dispensation from the Church and that is usually only granted under rare circumstances or for inter-faith marriages.
