anyone know about macys bridal.........

I ordered my bridal gown from there and did not commit to having alterations there yet.
My question is does anyone know if they have a cap on alterations or should I look outside of Macys for a seamstress?

Re: anyone know about macys bridal.........

I went to the Manhasset store and they had a cap of $175 for alterations and $75 for the bussle. Check your receipt bc mine was included when I made the deposit.

Re: anyone know about macys bridal.........

Thanks- I checked my receipt and it's not on there. I told them I wasn't sure but may want to add it. That sounds pretty reasonable to me.
I will call them tomorrow. I got my dress in Manhassat as well. ( they were really nice)

Re: anyone know about macys bridal.........

I was in there today and they told me there is a $175 cap but starting Monday they are changing the policy on alterations you are going to be charged by what you have done...so if you need a hem you pay for that a bustle add that take it in add that

Supposedly that is why the sales girl was soooooooooooo pushy today she claimed she wanted me to get in on the $175 deal. Little did she know my gown was going to be taken out the min it came in since my mother is doing the alterations.

Re: anyone know about macys bridal.........

Any idea what those charges will be? It figures - I have an appointment in April. I wonder how bad the alterations there will set me back....

Re: anyone know about macys bridal.........

I'm not sure about the changing of the charges things (my alterations capped at $175), but I just wanted to say that I ordered my gown from Macy's Bridal this past weekend and I'm so excited. I worked with Fay and she was as nice as can be.

Re: anyone know about macys bridal.........

I did not get my dress at Macy's, but at a private shop and they also quoted me $175 for alterations and $75 for the bustle, so I guess that is the going rate. Hope that helps.

Re: anyone know about macys bridal.........

The girl didnt give me many details on the new charges but from what I understood as long as you purchased the gown before the day that they change it..it will be the $175 cap

any gown purchased after the date will be the new policy.
Again I dont know if this girl was trying to use this as her sales pitch to get us to buy the gown on the spot.

Re: anyone know about macys bridal.........

If they used that as a sales pitch and it's not true, I would make a big stink about it with the manager. They should not lie!

Re: anyone know about macys bridal.........

I called Macys the day after I posted this ? and asked if the alteration ploicy was going to change as of Monday (like they told Joann) and they said no.
They told me the 175. cap includes all taking in and letting out until the big day. I think also pressing, cleaning if there is a spot etc.
They told me a regular bustle was 75. and a french bustle is 125.
I think I am going to do it all there so I donot have to deal w/ hiding gown in my house.
Thanks for all the info everyone.
edited to add- if they are trying to scare you into buying there on the spot- thats not right!!!!
My experience thus far has been positive but will keep you posted

Re: anyone know about macys bridal.........

ask for fay when you get your gown altered she is so nice and does a great job. i had the cap and also had my gown french bustled its beautiful. you do have to take the cap for the good and the bad. i didnt need much done to my dress so the cap was not really worth it for me but my friend had her dress taken it 3 sizes lol so it was great for her
