My brother goes to flight school. Before he did that, he took some flying lessons at Republic Airport in Farmingdale. I forget how much it cost (it couldn't have been that much) and he really liked it.
I did this for FH years ago. I forget the company I used but it was 99 for the first lesson & then they had packages, from Republic airport, just do a search for flight lessons long island or republic.

I think Dowling College actually has a flight school. Contact them and see if you can arrange a few classes!!
