Anyone know anything about planning a Newport wedding?

One of my BM just got engaged last night and wants to plan a wedding in Newport, RI (where we wnt for my bach-paty) I've started doing some research for her already and the mansions show their site fes, but you need to bring in outside caterers. I was wondering if anyone had any idea how much somthing like that would cost. I also know she loves Castle Hill and they do their own catering, but again, no prices ar shown. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

I live in RI!

But, I am not much of help as far as catering goes...and I am kinda far from newport, but I can get some referrals from people about caterers out here.

There is also the Aldrich mansion, it is not in newport, it is in Warwick RI, overlooking the water, its beautiufl and I know they have their own caterers and the food is good..

My cousin just got married at the newport regata club, and it had very beautiful views (I couldn't afford to attend, being in florida). I do know they had to pay like a couple of grand for the site fee and then hire outside caterers I think. I will get in touch with her and find out more information!

Thanks, I would appreciate it. All of the mansions have a site fee of $5000-7000, so I already know that my friend is going to have to suck that up if she wants to get married in Newport.

We went to Newport for our 1 yr (dating) anniversary about 2 and a half years ago, and we both absolutely fell in love with Rosecliff. I remember going out of my way to speak to someone about having a wedding there, and all I remember was that the site fee was astronomically high, plus you had to bring in your own caterer. And they do not allow DJs, only bands (something about the vibrations from speakers possibly damaging the mansion). I wish it were a lot cheaper, b/c that definitely would have been my first choice. That or Atlantis, in Paradise Island, haha!

I went to a wedding at oceancliff - it was a hotel and catering hall - it was really nice - they got married in the back with the water and bridge in the background.

Just remind your friend that once you leave the tristate area -you loose the NY cocktail hour - so just a crudite and a few passed appetizers - the cocktail hour is outside, but only has one bar that got very crowded right after the ceremony

one problem was that it was also a restatuarant so you see people in the next room

but the food was good sorry i don't know pricing - but i believe catering was on site

That's actually one of the places she's interested in. I told her about the CH thing and she has full intentions of upgrading and doesn't care what it costs.
