Anyone know anything about pots??

Original post by beautyq115

We don't know which ones to register for

I know the brands out there...the thing is we aren't gourmet chefs. I just want durable pots that are moderately priced but are good quality. Any suggestions???

you really should have a mix of non-stick, copper bottom (which distributes heat easily) and cast-iron.

non-stick is great for cooking foods that don't require a lot of heat, but if you are cooking with high heat, the non-stick pans are not good to use because they can't stand the high heat.

if you like steaks and such, you should really use a heavy pan without nonstick coating.

If you don't know a lot about cooking methods, it could help to do some research about them, or, if like Hollie you get a helpful and knowledgeful person while registering, you can just explain what foods you like eating and can see yourself cooking. the person SHOULD be able to take it from there.

Hope this helps- sorry it's long!

BTW- I LOVE FOOD (AND COOKING)

Thanks Jessica! I was going to suggest a mix too. I've heard that stainless steel is better for cooking fish and so I wanted to register for some of them. I only have Teflon so I want to add to my collection. Your info definitely helps.
