Anyone know not a soul on LI?

I'm a bit depressed. I moved here with DH about 2 years before our wedding. The closest person I know lives near Utica. DH's family lives around the Bronx. His friends are spread from Yonkers to Carmel. We both work weekends, typically.

If we have had days off together, it might be spent with his friends or family, although rare. Is there anybody else that deals with this? I love my DH so much. I do, however, want to have some friends. Are any of you in the same boat? We live in Suffolk.

I'm in a similar boat. I moved to California to be with DH and even though I've been out here for almost 2 years, I don't have many friends. Only one close friend besides him, to be exact. I'm finding it extremely hard to make friends and it gets me pretty down sometimes. We even talk about moving back east so that I can see my friends again, but I feel selfish uprooting his life because I haven't been able to meet people out here.

Definitely come to the next GTG! I made some great friends who I spend time with outside of the GTGs and the boards. You never know!

I'm in a similar position - I'm from around here, but most of my friends have left since I graduated high school, and those who are still around... let's just say we don't have much in common anymore. My family is here, but it's still pretty lonely. Family is great, but they're not who you want to go out with on the weekends, you know?

And FH works awful hours, including many nights and weekends. So... there you go. FM me some time if you'd like, we can chat and see if we have anything in common

i barely have friends now as it is, it's going to be scary when i move out to suffolk i won't know anyone either. where abouts are the suffolk people located?

Im in the same boat.. moved to Nj from LI and know NOONE here but fh's friends gfs,fiances,wives and they are living the 'old married life ' for a few years now haha
so only times i get to see my old buddies from LI is when we make a point to evrey few months.. i dont work in nj so i can't make friends from that.. luckily the friends wives are nice chicks (for the most part ) and are cool to hang out .with at big gathersings but i dont see them outide of that
its sad i used to have shopping buddies, bs buddies.. and just all around great chicks ... now they are far away!

if i was in LI id def. hang out with you!

i need NJ girls! man this post made me sad and totally miss home

i'm kinda in the same boat as weddingbunny. while i am from here, a lot of my friends and i have either drifted apart or they moved away. plus i work with mostly guys so it's not exactly the place to meet quality friends. i miss having girls to hang out with and just talk and be girls. that's why i love this site so much. i haven't gone to a GTG though... i feel like everyone knows each other and i'll be sitting there by myself! lol

It's easier to make friends when you're very young and in school because you are around the same people all the time, and they're your age, etc. It's more difficult when you get older, but in time, you will meet people!

I felt like that too. I only been to one GTG, unfortunately. But, you would never just be sitting there by yourself.

I know how you feel. I didn't know anyone or anything on LI and I'm still learning. I moved here just about 2 years ago to be with FH!

Thanks to the GTG's, I've made some fabulous friends who are there for me through thick and thin!

I saw that you posted that the GTGs occur when you work, so let me know when you are free, and I would be more than happy to try to plan one when you are available!

I totally understand. I moved to NJ right after I got married. I lived on LI all my life and my husband lived her. I've been here almost a yr and still don't know about the area. I have some work friends, but no one I hang out with. It *****.... but eventually I'll make other friends and things will change.

Getting together with some LIweddings girls would be a great way to meet new people. Good luck!

I am not too happy about moving to somewhere I'm not familiar with, especially since I have been in Suffolk my whole life. I guess it's compromise!!

Awww.... ladies!!!! Now I feel some love!!!!! I want a GTG!!! My schedule changes so much that it's so hard to figure these things out. Typically I'm off on Monday and Tuesday, but even that changes.
