Thinking of trying it over my next break from school... if you've done it what is involved and is it very difficult?

Re: Anyone make their own soap?
I do, as well as natural massage oils, lip balms, scrubs, etc... It's not that difficult, unless you make it ENTIRELY from scratch. Try www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com I think they sell soapmaking supplies.

Ummmm...It can be. If you go the cheap route & get just the bare necessities (vegetable glycerine block soap, a mold, scent for soap) then it's not bad at all, but it you want to make them really unique, it can get a bit pricey (using all natural ingredients, special additives, wrapping...).
It's by Faith Sugarman. She's a friend of a friend actually, and she used to sell her sopas online, I'm not sure if she still does, but they were so cool and so creative.

I'm actually making heart shape 2oz soap as my wedding favor. I just bought the glycerin blocks or soap .. cut it fit in a container and put it in the microwave for 40 seconds at a time till it melted conpletely, then I added a color block (it's one square per 2 lbs of soap) and then add lavender scent to it and pour it into my molds .. I make 20 heart at a time and usually about 30 min. later you can pop them out and wrap them in seran wrap (it keeps them from drying out and turning white on the edges)
