Land's End gave us seating cards to use but they aren't as nice as I would like. So I'm thinking of making my own.
I got a few ideas from MS weddings but was wondering if anyone has done it. I'm looking for something nice, but not too time consuming.
I only have one weekend left!
Thanks!

Re: Anyone making their own seating cards?
I am making the seats that I saw in the Fall or Winter Martha Stewart weddings magazine.

Re: Anyone making their own seating cards?
I bought blank ivory seating cards from Crains with envelopes. My sister in-law wrote out the guest names on the envelope and the table # on the enclosed card.

Have you tried making the little seats yet? They're so cute but I'm afraid they would take a lot of time.
Scoop - is your sister in law doing them in calligraphy or does she have nice handwriting?

I haven't tried but they don't seem that hard, you need to cut the paper into strips and glue then into the shape, you also need one of those bone folders and then write on them

Re: Anyone making their own seating cards?
Maybe I'll try to make one and see how it goes. I really think they are adorable.
Sunny - they are little chairs made out of paper. I think the name goes on the back of the chair and the table on the seat. I don't really remember though. I'll have to dig out the picture tonight and scan it in.

Oh my gosh -- Shelzyp! I'm sorry. Please don't worry about me or silly seating cards. I hope your father is doing well and that the surgery is a success.

Re: Anyone making their own seating cards?
instructions for 'seating cards'
The seats are made with heavyweight paper - they used pale yellow for ladies and pale blue for men.
They can be calligraphied or run through the printer.
If calligraphing the names and numbers then do so after the cahirs are made.
THe name goes on the panel on the back, and the table number goes on the panel for the seat.
1. to form each paper chair, you will need one 11 x 2 1/4 stripof card stock, you can fit three on an 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet. Use a bone folder to score each strip into four sections: a top that's 4 1/4 inches long, then three equal 2 1/8 inch sections.
2. Fold the strip at the top score line; the short section of the l will be the chair's back.
3. Bring the horizontal part of the strip down as shown, and fold at the next score line, forming the chair back and starting the seat.
4. Fold the strip down at the front of the seat to make the front legs. Use a glue stick or double sided tape to secure the two layers of the chair together. Set right-side up, and trim, if necessary.
I will try and post a picture, I have to try an use the scanner.
