Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
we have very few oot guests and I think most of them will be staying with family no at a hotel so we are definitly skipping them. its a nice extra but i dont think they have ever heard of it either so you can miss what you dont know right?

Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
I didn't do it. We have A LOT of OOT'ers, and we cannot afford the added expense. Everyone knows we are paying for the wedding ourselves, so they don't care.
I am not doing them. There are about 6-7 couples from out of state but they can fend for themselves...
I really am not close with them, maybe if I was I would think differently.

Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
We did them, and honestly it was a nice touch and everyone appreciated it a lot. But if you can't afford it, than don't do it, it is not necessary. I made them and they were pretty cheap. I bought bags at the dollar store and I bought some hard candy from the dollar store as well. Then I went to BJ's and bought a case of water and a case of chips and a case of mixed cookies. I made 20 bags and it cost me less than $100, actually much less. I put two bags of chips, 2 bags of cookies, some candy and gum, two bottles of water, and I tossed in a pack of tylenol.

Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
we will most likely be skipping this, and 1/2 our guests will be from OOT- for the most part they have been at some point in their lives NYC metro natives, so they know what to do...

Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
We are doing a bottle of wine for our hotel guests. I never really heard of the goodie/snack bags either until I came on here. Other than my brother's wedding where we got a small box of choc truffles, I've never received anything when I stayed at a hotel for a wedding.

Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
I'd thought about it, but I'm so burned out, I can't do another thing.
I think it's a nice touch, but not necessary.

Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
its totally optional. Its a new trend. I don't really have OOT guests, I have drunk friends that I won't let drive home. I amy make bags, but mostly if we don't do a bus, so I can put cab #s in them & water. maybe even sample packs of advil

I was going to do it, but ran out of time in the end. I don't think they were missed, really.

We are not doing them either. My FI and I currently live OOT and we have a ton of people joining us in Long Island for the wedding. We definitely can not afford to make OOT bags. I think that most people do not expect them anyway.

Haven't decided yet but if I'm burnt out or broke they are the first things to go. I also think they are a nice touch, but not necessary and I also never heard of them until theknot.

Im not doing them. None of my out of town guest would understand why I would bother. They certainly wouldnt expect it.

Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
I think it is a totally personal choice. You could even do something as simple as bottled water and fruit. That wouldn't be expensive

Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
i got one at a wedding about 6-7 years ago, which was the first i saw of one. they had the usual stuf - water, chips, etc.
Its nice to have if you can swing the $$$, but i doubt anyone actually expects it.. do what you want!

Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
I am not doing them!! I can't afford anything else!! Anyway most of my OOTs are country hicks so my grandmothers and my block are going to look like an RV park. I could make RV bags but once again I dont have the money!

Re: anyone NOT DO out of town bags??
Since most of my family and friends are from Michigan where these bags are, more then likely, unheard of I prolly won't do them. I am making up travel packets with maps/directions to everything.
Hell, they looked at me weird when I said we had an engagement party.
