We are going to introduce my cousin and his wife-they got me the job where I met FH, and thank them for inadvertantly getting us together-then give them the BO-K and garter. They don't know we are going to do it, so it should be nice...

We're not doing either and we're not doing anything to replace them. I find them both tacky traditions and I don't want to do them.
same here
I'm with them

We are not doing either. Instead we are doing the last couple standing dance.

Re: Anyone Not Doing
We did not and had planned on doing the anniversary dance, which I think is cute... But our DJ ruined the whole thing! Instead of having everyone dance, he had all the married couples stand up at their tables, and told them to sit down if they had been married 5 years or less... etc... We should not have done anything to replace it!!!

Re: Anyone Not Doing
I'm not doing it either. But, I am doing something to replace it. I am passing the garter and boquet to the next married couple we know..The band will make the announcement and we will pass it to them and wish them luck and happiness in their future together...blah blah blah...

we are not doing it either... i find it a bit tacky also i think we are doing something else.... all married couples married more than 1 year all on the dance floor and the band will gradually tell those who have been married 2 years 5 years, 10 years to leave the couple married the longest will remain and get the bouquet....
Ditto!!!

Re: Anyone Not Doing
Not tossing anything and not replacing them with anything.
We are, however, presenting FH's nanny with a smaller version of my boo-k - no announcements or anything, just something we're going to do with just the 3 of us.

Re: Anyone Not Doing
We didn't do any of that stuff...we had a packed dance floor all night. However we did have 3 beautiful speeches, a mom/son dance and a little cake thing.

FI will take my garter off, then we'll go into the Anniversary dance. The couple who is married longest will get the garter and bo-k

Re: Anyone Not Doing
We did the Anniversary dance instead. All the couples we're invited on the floor for a dance ,then the newest couples elminated (us first) and so on unitl the longest married couple we're left on the dance floor (we had 2 tie for over 40 years)They got our garter and toss boquet.I liked this much better than the garter/boquet toss.

Re: Anyone Not Doing
I'm doing neither. Just not my thing. FH isn't American so he doesn't care. The only thing we are doign to replace it is DANCING! DANCING! PARTYING! and more PARTYING!

Re: Anyone Not Doing
We didn't do either and we really didn't replace it with anything. We had a spotlight dance after we cut the cake, but that was more because our first dance was in American and we also wanted a slow song just for us - in Italian.
The toss and garter weren't missed at all.

We aren't doing either, but we ARE doing an anniversary dance, where all married couples dance and the MC slowly asks them to leave according to how long they have been married. ie. anyone married less than 3hours (us) annyone married less thana month less thana year, less than 5 years, etc
I will present my 'give away' bouquet to the couple on the dance floor at the end.
BTW, we will be using the song 'Remember When' by George Strait for this dance.

Re: Anyone Not Doing
I'm doing the bo-k toss and garter toss... I like those traditions... but we won't be making the guy who catches the garter put it on the the girls leg.
I went to my first wedding without these events this summer, and honestly, I didn't miss it that much.

Re: Anyone Not Doing
I am not doing the garter toss and I want all the women to come up for the bouquet toss not just the single ladies.

Re: Anyone Not Doing
Not doing them.
I'm the last non-married female of family and friends at age 34. Who would I toss the boquet to... my Golden Retreiver, Molly?
I've been on my own for a long time and worked really hard career wise... both practices are a bit degrading in my eyes.
We are doing the Anniversary dance and will have at least 4 couples married over 40 years.
