Anyone not doing a RD?? is this tacky?

Original post by fancyface1955

Hi Gals,

FH and I are very greatful to our friends and families who are sharing in our day and we want to do something to thank them- but it's just not in the budget to do a RD. the way it boils down is that it's a miniature version of the wedding! we're not sure there is going to be extra money floating around to do this 'Un-necessary extra party' as FH likes to call it.
Would it be rude to just have them over to the house for cake and coffee??? or maybe have a few trays of food from a local restaurant brought in??
I don't want to come off as cheap or tacky, but I'm not sure this is something else we can afford.
Is anyone else not doing a RD or have suggestions as to what else could be done??
Thanks.

Since we are getting married at the RH, we're not going to have a RD. We figured we'd do a luncheon a few weeks after to say thanks to our BP and give them gifts then. Nothing fancy.

This may seem a bit rude, but what's the point of this? I can understand not having a RD, but as an outsider I think many won't be interested after the fact because it just seems like a total afterthought for the bridal party.

There is NOTHING tacky about having some food trays or coffee and cake at your house, it's your day and your rehearsal, no one should EXPECT to have a full catered party at a restaurant, people do whats good for them and if that's whats good for you and FH go for it, I'm sure it will be great!!! Good Luck!!!!!!

There's nothing wrong with that!

I honestly think that mine is going to end up being just trays at FIL's place the way things look...and I'm so over everything at this point I wouldn't care.
