anyone not doing a typical football stadium-like entrance?

I'm looking for something a little different than the normal football stadium-like entrance into the reception hall. Any alternative ideas out there?

Re: anyone not doing a typical football stadium-like entrance?

We are having our ceremony @ our reception location & we are planning on spending the cocktail hour with our guests-so we'll just sneak into the reception @ the very beginning & our DJ will ask everyone to get ready for our first dance-He''l introduce us as Mr & Mrs as we enter the dance floor. It's subtle, but it works for us!

Re: anyone not doing a typical football stadium-like entrance?

I'm doing the same as RichsBride.
FH is from the UK and he thinks the 'stadium entrance' is horribly tacky. Personally, I've never been a big fan either.
My mom is a bit miffed though that she misses that chance in the spotlight, so we're introducing her prior to the Anniversary Dance.

Fiance from Uk

Did you have to apply for the Fiance Visa? My FH is also from UK (Scotland) and we are going thru hell with immigration.

Re: anyone not doing a typical football stadium-like entrance?

Same here, my FH is originally British, and my family is from Venezuela, and there is not such entrances in our countries, but something lot subtler ... so we are doing the same, we are spending time with our guests in the cocktail hour, and then our DJ will do a simple announcement, and we'll have our dance

FH already has a work visa. He's been in the states for 5 years as a resident alien.

Re: anyone not doing a typical football stadium-like entrance?

We are not doing any introductions, not BP or Parents. The band leader will just say, 'We would like to invite Michele and Scott to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife'.

Re: anyone not doing a typical football stadium-like entrance?

Im also against the football entrance HOWEVER having no official beginning to the reception is not a good idea. Ive been to many weddings and you really need something to kick things off.

So like Michele, my FH and I will be introduced (no other introductions) in a more diginified way to the instrumental version of our first dance song. No 'get ready to rumble' music of any kind!

Re: anyone not doing a typical football stadium-like entrance?

My FH wants the theatrics of a big grand entrance... but he doesn't want the traditional let's run in, go under the bridal party arch and get slapped on the ass entrance, he wants to do something a little different and wild. He thinks we should enter the hall 'tango' style, make our way to one corner of the dance floor where he'll spin me & then dip me (hopefully not trip me or drop me!) and then he wants to do some weird Michale Jacksonish tribute to the other corner, like a moonwalk, breakdance spin-thing. I told him he's more than welcome to do that part on his own... I think he's a big talker now and when it comes down to the day he'll chicken out...at least I hope so!! lol!!

Re: anyone not doing a typical football stadium-like entrance?

Stef - that's my worry - you need to have some kind of entrance, otherwise, we'd just sneak in the side door or something?! Then, people would start applauding etc since they're used to the whole entrance thing.

So you'll have the instrumental version of your first dance song, and then you'll head straight for the dance floor and have the real song begin?

Re: anyone not doing a typical football stadium-like entrance?

We are going to be introduced to the instrumental version of our first dance, walk right to the dance floor and begin.

Yes, people will clap when we come in but since the music isn't the football stadium type, there won't be much of that rymthmic clapping. I think it will be a nice beginning without being over the top. Or at least thats what I hope :D

Re: anyone not doing a typical football stadium-like entrance?

Sparklers seem fitting for a July 4th - especially if youre doing the whole fog thing when you come up from the floor.

As for my bridal party - they are MORE than happy NOT to have to do that. The only people who may miss it are the parents.
