Anyone Not Doing a Video?

Anyone Not Doing a Video?

Just wondering if any LI brides, choose not to have a video, I'm on a tight budget and want amazing pictures - Which will probably cost about $3000 for a decent package, but I might have to cut out the video. Has anyone regretted this or did you get some of your guests to use a camcorder - how did that work out?

does it have to be all or nothing?? I got a top package and it was well under $3K...

my sister got a basic basic for even less...(different co)

I will tell you that this is a decision that you may truly regret...all I could think of when everyone was walking down thte aisle was how sad I couldn't see them...and that I couldn't wait to see the video...

also you will have talking and moving evidence of your parents...grandparents...family and friends...something still pictures can never capture...(my grandfather died 2 weeks before the wedding...and we don't have video tape of him)...my uncle died 6 months after the wedding...and when we saw the wedding and him and my aunt dancing so close during the anniversary dance...nobody had a dry eye...

even if you get a guest to tape for you...at least there will be something

We just couldnt afford it. People years ago didnt have cameras at everytable,(although we are doing this cause we got them cheap), or vidio people. We are having a friend record the church entrance and the entrance at the reception so I can see it later. I think I would regret spending the money on that rather than someting else I would have to forgo to have it.

i think the best packages go for 3k...u can find respectable veido for 1000. i think it's total worth it. i book wild rose. Me and FW must of watched a good hour of footage...everybody was tearing and what not. Its a different way of captureing that 1 and only day. If you can find a package for about 1000...most 1500. I think i would regreat not getting it.

Its good that someone will cover the church.. that is the most important part :)

When Yabbobay said this to me shortly after my cousin and grandfather passed away, I was convinced we needed a video.

You can get videos for a lot less then $3000. Evne if you just purchase the raw footage, it's something you will really enjoy having.

when u go to look for your photographer ( as i now, you have none) as about veido...most times they put it together and get a cheaper rate.

check out DUET!
for appox 3800... u get 2 photographers and 1 veido all day long.

We were initially not going to have video and the ladies convinced me that it was necessary. I think reliving the moment I said my vows, walked down the aisle and had my first dance with Fh is something I want caught on video. Pictures are wonderfel but defuinitely not the same. I agee with the other posts as well. Defintely check out DUET.

I think it may be just as important as photos! There is no replacing watching it happen all over again in front of you. A friend of mine two years ago didn't get it and regrets it! My photographer (Silverfox) offered a non-edited version (just to capture the moments) for a LOT less. Don't sell yourself short!

if you dont hire a proffesional, then please have someone tape it on a camcorder.
you'll cherish the video of loved ones for a long time...

I think you should reconsider getting the video. The 2 of you can't be everywhere at the reception, and there'll be a lot of things you'll miss. The video will show you what you missed.

Ex. While DH and I were taking pictures outside, a conga line started inside led by my 88 yr old wheelchair bound grandmother (she was helped by my cousin). The video showed her with a huge smile on her face, waving her arms in the air. Unfortunately, she passed away last week. If it weren't for the video, that memory would be gone for us.

Good luck,
Donna

Re: Anyone Not Doing a Video?

Here are some ideas:

Look into just getting the raw footage and maybe later you can get it editted

Get a friend to tape it -- a friend of my husband's taped it w/ our video camera for us and we watched it on the plane (that was a lot of fun)

Check of Bellarino that's who I used (I thought they were pretty reasonable)- like you videpoography was not in my budget but people kept telling me I would regret it.

ETS: Also, Check out some film schools -- students are always trying to build their portfolios.

Good Luck!!!

We didn't have a video.. and it wasn't for monetary issues- we could've afforded it. The reason I didn't want it was because we had a candle lit ceremony & reception and the lights of the video camera would've been too intrusive IMO... DH felt the same way & so did my Mom. I had someone tape the ceremony- I thought that was enough.

we are not doing a video...plenty of family members will be bringing theirs to tape the important stuff and they are very good at it. I'm not worried...FH says he'd rather look at a photo album than sit through a video

I agree also. I would rather look at an album than watch a video. My family and friends are going to tape the ceremony and that will be fine for me.

i totally agree. we were not going to do the video (or at least not do a package) b/c of $$$ we even thought about buying a camcorder, which we would want to buy anyway, and have fbil's friend come and tape the wedding. anything. it turns out my dad and stepmom are doing it as a gift, which is awesome. we saw their video and were blown away!!! and my stepmom said that she is so glad she has it b/c a friend of her died shortly after and now she has her on tape. i want my family on tape...i would reconsider if i were you. if not a package, then have someone tape the wedding!!! we knew we would regret it.
