Anyone Not Doing a Video?

Original post by jessnyc711

Just wondering if any LI brides, choose not to have a video, I'm on a tight budget and want amazing pictures - Which will probably cost about $3000 for a decent package, but I might have to cut out the video. Has anyone regretted this or did you get some of your guests to use a camcorder - how did that work out?

We are not doing a professional video either. But...one of my sister's friends (who is not an invited guest) is going to come and video the whole thing. She usually does these sorts of things for school functions (she's a teacher). So...since she won't know anyone...nothing to keep her distracted from getting all the good stuff :)

We won't be having a video. All we wanted was the ceremony, but we couldn't find a videographer who would accomodate us (Not worth their time I suppose). There will be people at our wedding with video cameras, that's good enough for us!

We won't be having a video. I will have someone setup a still camcorder to tape the ceremony (I can't stand when they move around, I think it takes away from the ceremony) and perhaps take snippets of video here and there after the reception.

We also have a friend who just bought professional equipment and I may ask him to help out if he can and wants to. Either way we will have some footage, but it won't be one of those 'professional packages'.

If you can afford $300, there's a professional on my budget vendor page, Craig Seeman of Third Planet Video, who will shoot your wedding professionally and give you the raw footage. For $600 he'll edit it. He's great - Xmasbride used him and LOVED her video. Give him a call - I think you'll really regret not having at least the raw footage.

Thank you ladies for all your viewpoints, it's a tough call. By the way-I meant the photo packages without video are around $3000, I just don't really know if I want to spend $1000 for an hour of video - I know it's the big day and all that, but I'm just trying to really think about the budget etc.....aaaggghhh....Thanks for the Budget vendor videographer tip, I think I will definitely check that out $300 is reasonable for the footage.

from a man pointe of view I find them boring, here is a suggestion, perhaps they can put pictures of the ceremony on dvd. To me it better you personalized it . Just a thought

Duet can do video and photo for around 3K, check them out before you decide to cut out the video. You may not watch it often, but it is very nice to have. Maybe check out some colleges like 5 towns and see if you can at least get a student to do it.

3k is steep for us! Very steep. I think between all our friends we will get a nice view of things. :) Its a personal choice.

Thanks, Yeah, I'm kinda of thinking, okay how many times am I really going to watch it, or make everyone else sit through it. I wish DUET had my date available, because they were very affordable for photo and video, but they are not, bummer....
