I wonder if anyone got married and didn't do a video and regrets it.
I honestly can't imagine sitting down to watch it.

Re: Anyone NOT doing a video?
From what girls on this site have said, they did wish they had gotten the video after it was all over. There are some cheap basic videos you can get if you are not totally into it, but I think you might end up regretting it, even if you only watch it once or twice.
Picture your kids being able to watch it one day

Re: Anyone NOT doing a video?
I'm not doing a professional video, but I did ask a friend of my sister's who majored in film and who I would not have otherwise invited to the wedding to come and videotape the ceremony and key parts of the reception. I think it is great to have a video bc so many people say that the day just flies and you don't even know what's going on, so it'd be nice to have it but I don't necessarily think you need to spend a lot of money on one either bc we'll probably watch it only a handful of times.

Re: Anyone NOT doing a video?
well nowadays things are different...you get about 3 or 4 dvds some even more...They have a dvd of just highlights, trailer, you can have just the ceremony part...some of those special feature dvd's can be just 15-20 minutes long so its not like each time you're watching the whole thing...but also just so you know videos are edited and cut down to about an hour and a half, you can get the unedited version but you dont have to always watch that one

That's a great idea. We didn't budget for one either and I am racking my brain trying to figure out who I can ask. Does your sis's friend want to make some extra $

I have a video for the ceremony. We have three photographers at the reception and I hate video cameras. Think its a personal decision.

i'm not using a pro videographer...but one of our good friends is an amateur film maker and we asked him to tape the important parts.

I'm not using a pro, one of my good friends is taping the important parts for us. We're very happy with that. We want the raw footage and all...lol...

I can definitely ask her! I'm sure if you think about it though, you might have someone in your life already who could do an adequate job. I wouldn't ask anyone who I was inviting as a guest to do it, but if you think about it, I bet maybe you have a neighbor or the son/daughter of a family friend, somebody who wouldn't mind helping you out, going someplace nice, having a nice meal and making a little extra cash.

I will think about it, I am even scrolling through my students. I may have to take you up on your offer to ask her though!
Thanks

Re: Anyone NOT doing a video?
UGH! Now I wish we were having one. I can't ask any of our family members because I'd feel bad that they'd have to tape it and not watch. Maybe I'll ask my rels if someone wouldn't mind.
I honestly don't want to spend the money, but now you've all made me feel bad. Ha ha! Thanks for your input! Seriously!

It's okay, Ally. I was thinking I could save the money, but after reading this, I think I may regret it.

Re: Anyone NOT doing a video?
my sister spent $4000 on her video kept forgetting to pick it up finally 1 1/2 after it was done I picked it up for her. We watched it once and I dont even think she knows where it is.
Im def not getting one its money I can use toward something else. Pictures are all I need.

Re: Anyone NOT doing a video?
Honestly, GET THE VIDEO!
Its not a huge expense in the scheme of things.
And as a bride who just had her wedding, and feels like everything FLEW by, I am really looking forward to seeing the video to fill in the gaps in my memory.
