Anyone NOT doing favors?

Anyone NOT doing favors?

I know it's a 'your day your way' kind of thing when it comes to weddings, but I really don't have the patience to make my own and was just wondering what kind of (possibly negative) statement it makes if you don't do favors at a wedding. TIA!!

Do a donation to a charity. The money goes to a good cause, it's easier and less time consuming for you and your guests will understand. I am going to have an announcement placed on the placecard table telling my guests who I am donating the money to and why. Good luck.

I'm considering a few things. I've never gotten a favor that meant anything to me - and I've been to almost 20 weddings in 3 years! I don't want to give out another picture frame or candlestick holder.....I'm thinking of doing nothing. I have been to a wedding where there weren't any favors - and I didn't realize it. It was only recently that the bride pointed out that she had saved money by not giving anything out.

Another thing I'm kicking around is giving out lotto tickets. It would only cost a dollar per person, and at least there's a chance of someone getting lucky - on us! What do you guys think of that?

ETA - I don't mean to sound bitter or ungrateful - but I also don't want to spend money just because etiquette says so....

To be honest -- I feel most guests would feel jipped (or however you spell it) if they did not get a favor. It's a little way to say thank you for them attending. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I love getting favors at weddings.

I kind of feel like you have to do something. I think a donation favor is terrific if you don't wanty to give out anything cheesy. Lotto tickets are great too. We are giving out those as our second favor.

Donating to a charity is pretty popular. Many times the charity will give you cards or pins to put on each guests plate and you can create a little card that explains a donation has been made in their name. That way you choose the amount to donate and your guest smile for a moment knowing you were thinking about others less fortunate on your special day!

I'm doing the donation thing as well. We're kind of/sort of doing a favor--we'll be getting everyone a Lance Armstrong LIVESTRONG Bracelet in addition to another charity. The bracelet costs $1.00 each, so it's not a huge expense.

personally i think favors are the biggest waste of money. i plan on suggesting the donation to charity in lieu of favor idea to my FH and hopefully he'll see my way :)

I personally wouldn't care if I didn't recieve a favor, but I know a lot of people who would be offended not to get their token of thanks.
I think the donation would be fine, or maybe something edible woulld be good. I did a heart shaped bottle stopper and 2 wine charms per couple. It was about $2.25 per favor.

You don't sound bitter at all. As a matter of fact, you sound like me! I have never once gotten a wedding favor that meant anything to me or that I kept for any length of time. They're really cute the day of, but after that....dust collectors.

Im doing an edible favor. Im calling it a day by giving out boxes of krispy kremes. No dust collecting favors here.

I am on the fence about this one...I may just do a donation and Krispy Kremes on the way out. They are pretty expensive. If I do wind up with something more inexpensive - it will probably be edible!

I wouldnt care if i didnt get a favor. haven't got a favor yet that I have used lol It is very rare that people get favors that people can actually use...cause even with shots glasses, how often do you use them in your own house??

I think you should- Love the donation idea and the knot has info for you. Otherwise chocolate is easy- Godiva offers favors.

We are actually doing a donation in memory of my grandmother...She was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 6 years ago & recently passed away. we are going to make little satin roses with scrolls explaining our donation...

We gave out full size wine bottles.

I like donations, edible and drinkable favors - I have Never kept another favor - they all get left there or thrown away I'm afraid to say. I've never liked any of them and don't need more clutter in my house.

we are not doing favors, we are giving to charity. and we are simply putting a 'donation frame' by the place cards, rather than printing donation scrolls.

I have received one favor that I actually liked at a wedding this past year. Smiley (an 04 bride) was the only bride I know to give something useful and not a dust collector. Other than that, all other favors have been thrown out. But I still believe in some form of appreciation towards your guests for coming and sharing your day is appropriate. And a donation in someone's memory/honor is a beautiful gesture.

didn't do them, no one missed them...

DH's mother made the mini organza bags filled with jordan almonds , but that was more for decoration, not favor...
