I think I'm doing menus, only because there are six entree selections. If there were three, I probably wouldn't bother. My hall doesn't provide place cards so I'll be doing these, too.

i am still debating this....
someone made a good point a while back, that many halls surprise their brides and grooms with different options that night...like a mini viennesse or an intermezzo and then it would not be on the menu if they did this.. and they dont want to deter the hall from offering extras...which is a good point. BUT i am having 6 choices for the dinner and I think they look nice...

We did NOT do menus. Our hall provided them and they were fine. We also used our halls placecards. We just attached them to pumpkins.

I've actually NEVER been to a wedding that had menus and the majority of them used non-specialized placecards. If you don't want to do them, you are certainly not alone! :)

I am going to do menus I think its cute and also if its dark or loud they can read what the food is... Either way it will be fine.

We used the menus and placecards (which we put on placecard bell holders) provided by hall...both were great!!

I'm going to skip making menus and use the hall's placecards - saves some $ and time, and less stuff for me to worry about!

We're not doing menus. We have six entree choices, but one is a low-cal choice and one is a vegetarian choice. we're going to let the waiters let people know what the choices are.

I don't know that I'd spend money on menus if they weren't... I just don't think it's necessary. I'm definitely not going all out with every little detail - for example, I see no point in spending money on a fancy cake cutter. I'm still making up my mind on toasting flutes. I'll probably have low candle-based centerpieces, with flowers as highlights. A small bridal party. Use my mother's veil, if I use one at all... etc.
I'm not even on as tight a budget as a lot of other people - it just seems silly to spend all that extra money on things. The things I'm not scrimping on - the photos and video, because that's what I'll have for the rest of my life, the band, because it really sets the tone for party, and the hall, because... well... the whole thing is based around the hall! Little things like menus... I just don't think they are necessary, and I wouldn't pay for them if they weren't included.

id recommend menus if you hall doesnt provide them, so many weddings ive been to, the music is playing loud and its annoying to have to straight to hear a waiter with a low voice

I love those pumpkin placecards! I wish there was some kind of blue vegetable or fruit that I could do that with... I've seen it with apples and with pears as well. It's adorable.

I haven't booked a place yet but I will include menus. I am planning on doing them myself if the place doesn't provide them. Get them copied at Kinkos on nice paper.

Our hall provides the seating cards, and we're doing the menus on our own as a DIY project. We just found it more convienant than having the waiter go over each menu item a million times.
