Anyone not doing programs?????

Anyone not doing programs?????

why or why not? I am debating since I know alot of people trash them after the ceremony or they get left behind. My ceremony is outdoor and a half an hour. Is it really worth it?

I am not doing them because my church will not allow me to have them.

I'm not doing them... pretty much same reason, half hour ceremony, they get thrown away and I am not having too much out of the ordinary where it would warrant explaining, etc.

I can understand that. I never looked at it that way. Who am I explaining to? My mom said we could have a master program for the minister but thats about it. I mean really, will they miss it????? i can't see someone saying, 'oh my god she didn't have programs'!!!! Once they get all that food in their system, they probably won't remember much of anything.

I agree about the food part. I think I am going to do them because I have so much damn free time at work and so much time til the wedding that I probably will find myself making them.

I'm gonna pass on them... it just seems to me that it's so much work for a quick, 'aww, how cute.' and then they hit the trash can.

I had thought about doing them but in the last few weeks decided it was not worth the time (even though I was going to do myself on the printer).

My ceremony was the same - outdoors and barely a half hour. I was only considering doing them to put in something about DH's parents & sister who are longer with us.

I am not doing them either. It just seems they are going to hit the garbage can after the ceremony. But that is just my point of view

Well have any of you been to a wedding without one? What did u think? I know in Atlanta it is very common but from what I hear in New York, most people don't do that. Is this correct?

Nope , we aren't doing them either.

Our church provides a pretty nice program regarding the Greek Ceremony , which will help our guests who aren't Greek (i.e., all of my family and friends!)

for those who do them, I think its a nice touch , though.

I HAVE kept every single wedding program from all the weddings I've gone to as a keepsake. I went to one wedding that didn't have one and I thought it was very odd. I also feel it's a great way to recognize your BP, close family and vendors.

Actually, I don't think I've ever been to a wedding that DID have programs. One of my friends was shocked when I first mentioned I may be doing them.

i agree, too! I think it's nice to put the names of the attentands and all those who are participating in the ceremony so the guests aren't guessing who everyone is. My FBIL got married last year and they didn't do them, I guess because they got married @ the hall, but i was wondering were they were.
i mean, you can say the same for invitations (people throw them out) ya know?

I think you should do programs. They don't have to be a booklet, can merely be a one pager or a scroll or something. I think it really adds to the day and the ceremony, not the reception is the important part of the day. I definitely notice if there are no programs at a wedding.

I think I'm doing, so I can list the bridal party, since we are not havign them announced at the reception.

I also would like to say something about deceased family memerbs.

As for expaling stuff, the standard format for an Episcopal church doesnt' really explain much, but it gives you an idea of how much longer you have to go! lol.

I am consiering goigna LONG program, listing all the stuff that's in the book of Common Prayer, so people can follow along without looking going between the paryer book, the hymnal & the program.

NYLISA--I've never heard of a church not allowing programs. I guess I should ask. Did they give a reason?

i can understand sending out invitations. You kind of have to if you want people to show up. If i introduce my bridal party at the reception, give regards to lost loved ones, will this save me the paper for the ceremony? I mean you mention peoples names and who they are, the program doesn't say more than that.
